“You're joking, Adeline,” Seraphina says, getting up to pick up the small, tiny broken pieces of the glass that fell earlier when she choked on the water she was drinking while Adeline made the outrageous statement.
Adeline joins her in picking them up. “I don’t think it's that big of a deal...”
Seraphina cuts in, “It’s very big. He is definitely going to realize.”
“There’s nothing there. You just have to be sure to compose yourself while introducing yourself as Adeline Everleigh. He won't know I'm not the one,” Adeline retorts.
“Won't he recognize that I am an impostor?” Seraphina asks.
“He won't really. He doesn't recognize me, so he won't doubt you. That's if you act composed and sure of yourself, of course.”
“Will I be getting married to him too?” Seraphina asks, definitely sure of what the answer would be—no.
“Come on, Phina, you are acting too childish. How will you marry him?” Adeline responds to Seraphina’s obvious question, giving her the answer she expected.
“Then won't he know the lady he met is not the same one he is marrying?” Seraphina scoffs as she disposes off the broken pieces.
“Who cares? The worst he can do is cancel the plans, and is that not what I even want? It would make me so happy.”
Seraphina laughs at her statement. “Are you for real right now?”
Adeline just sits on the bed, worried.
Seraphina sits beside her. “I really want to help you, Lady A, but this guy is not a fool. That's if I'm right, of course,” she laughs, and Adeline laughs too. “From what I heard, he is ruthless and very wicked. What if he cuts off my head?” Phina continues, holding her head with a “please spare me” expression.
Adeline lets out a huge laugh. “Ohh, Phina, please! Don't make me laugh at my unfortunate predicament.”
“Come and sleep it off. We will figure the rest out tomorrow,” Seraphina says, lying down flat and pulling the duvet over herself, still feeling very much tired from the day's work and wanting to rest well.
Adeline pulls back the duvet, saying, “You aren't allowed to sleep.”
“Lady A, why is that? What is it?” Seraphina groans angrily.
“You didn’t let me sleep earlier, remember?”
“Ahh, Addie, leave me alone. I had a long day at the hospital today. I am extremely tired and need rest so badly.”
“I needed rest too, but you ruined it for me.”
Seraphina forcefully snatches back the duvet and pulls Adeline to sleep in her arms. “Let’s sleep together then.”
“Leave me alone, Phina. I will not spare you if you don't let me go this instant,” Adeline groans, trying to pull back but to no avail.
“No,” Seraphina yells.
Adeline later gives up. “Fine then, I will just sleep in your arms. It does feel cozy. Something I haven't felt in a while.”
“Better! Now go to sleep. Hush, little baby, don't you cry. Be a good girl, little one.”

The next morning, Ivy barges into Seraphina’s room, yelling, “You are still asleep, Sera? Wake up!! You are late for work already!”
“What?? What's the time?” Seraphina jumps out of bed, feeling restless.
Ivy bursts into laughter. “It’s just 5 am.”
“You are not serious, Ivy,” Seraphina feels relaxed and settles back on the bed.
“Look how scared and worried you got,” Ivy laughs.
“And I am even off today. I’m not going to work,” Seraphina realizes.
“Ivy, you almost gave Phina a heart attack,” Adeline chuckles and gives Ivy a high five.
“I know right. When did you get back to New York, and did you spend the night here?” Ivy inquires, bewildered.
“Isn’t it already obvious that she spent the night here?”
“Ivy, I got back just yesterday, and I missed you so much,” Adeline pulls Ivy into a hug.
“I missed you more, Addie.”
“Look, Ivy can help you go on the date with him,” Seraphina suggests to Adeline.
“What date? And with who?” Ivy asks anxiously, wondering what Seraphina was talking about.
“Come on, Phina, what's wrong with you? Would Haynes believe Adeline is a teenager?”
“Haynes? You mean Haynes Van Doren?” Ivy asks, getting even more interested at the mention of Haynes’s name.
