Ava
I felt my cheeks heat as I grabbed the phone from Nigel. He smirked and eyed Nick whose attention was focused on a dancing Kayla as he cheered her on. I took Nigel's hand and pulled him out of the living room to the hallway. I ignored how good his hand felt in mine and the little tingles that formed.
Over the past couple of days he was all I thought of, it was rather unsettling. I wanted to ask Jen about him but refrained since she would blow it way out of proportion, but what I did gather though is that he was a single father and not married. I got this little tidbit from my mother when she mentioned that she had babysat Kayla a few times.
I got to the hallway and folded my arms then sighed, “No one was supposed to see that, in fact I thought it was deleted."
He stayed silent and I felt compelled to explain further, "It was a photo shoot and they sent all the pictures over to me so I could approve which ones got put in the magazine. I didn't approve of this one by the way I just - Oh will you wipe that silly smirk off your face."
"Sorry," he chuckled "I just think the picture was really hot, you're a very beautiful woman Ava."
I looked away from him with a little smile playing across my face, why did those words from him feel so good to hear? He stepped closer to me and I unconsciously took a step back but then he took another forward, I took another back and hit the wall behind me.
"Why can't I stop thinking about you?" he whispered as he leaned his head closer to mine.
"What?” I breathed out, the close proximity was making me breathless and messing with my head.
"It's funny because I haven't been interested in any woman for the past four years but then you come along and after spending a few hours with you, you're constantly on my mind and I'm far beyond interested in you, it's insane .” He confessed and I grinned not knowing how to respond, guys normally were not this upfront and honest.
He caressed my cheek and whispered "I love your smile and you're just so damn beautiful." He closed what little distance was between us and pressed his lips to mine. I froze for a few seconds but twined my arms around his neck.
I felt sparks flying, yes it sounds cliché as hell but I didn’t care. His tongue darted out and softly licked my under lip, I moaned softly as his arms came around and placed themselves on my hips. I wanted him close and I didn't want this kiss to end but I remembered that we were in Nick's house and everyone was here and anyone could come around the corner and see us, so very reluctantly I pulled back breathless.
"Wow" He murmured, "I didn’t-"
“I swear if you say that you didn't mean to do that, I will smack you."
He threw his head back and laughed, "I was going to say that I didn't see that coming but I liked it, a lot."
I smiled, "Yeah me too.’’
"Go on a date with me." He blurted out.
“I know that I'm supposed to play some form of hard to get but I'd love nothing more than to go out with you."
He rewarded me with a pearly white smile and before he could respond the bathroom door opposite to where we were standing opened and out came Nick's dad. He gave us a once over and I backed away even further from Nigel and Nathaniel grinned.
"Well, I'll be damned."
"Don't say anything dad." Nigel groaned but Nathaniel ignored him.
"It doesn't take an expert to figure out what I just walked in on." He chuckled, "I sure am shocked though since you haven't shown interest in a woman for so long."
"Dad…" Nigel warned but again he was ignored.
"Your mom was starting to think that you were gay, now there's absolutely nothing wrong with that, I'm very-"
“What's going on here?" My aunt Amelia asked as she came around the corner and I groaned. I knew where this could possibly go.
"Nothing." I replied quickly then Nigel all but pushed them away from the hallway, Nathaniel walked away chuckling, made a zipped lips gesture with his finger over his mouth while my aunt argued saying she wanted to use the bathroom and Nathaniel told her she could use the one upstairs and gave us a wink.
I let out a laugh shaking my head and Nigel let out a big sigh.
"Well, that was a mood killer I guess."
"Not at all," I smiled "I like your dad."
"Yeah, yeah he's pretty cool I guess." Then he grinned, "so about that date…"
