Our weekend on the island has been so memorable for both of us. We've got to spend so much time together wholesomely. Yes, after our very hot moment on the beach, Alex made sure to maintain a safe distance between us to ensure that such moment will not be happening again. I actually wished that he'll be tempted to do it again but, tadah, his self-control is very strong. Yes, he's kissing me intensely and hotly in every moment that he could, but that's it. Whenever I felt like we're going farther, I'll get excited but he would stop. That frustrates me a bit. I wanted more.
When we got back, we're back to our busy schedule since we have to settle things before our big day. We wanted to spend the week on the island for our honeymoon without worrying about our work. He threatened me that he'll be making love to me in every part of the island possible as soon as we got married until I got sore for teasing him so much. We'll just the thought of it gave me a tingling sensation on my abdomen. It sounded more of a promise to me that I looked forward to.
I'm busy checking my files when my phone vibrated. I picked it up when I saw my mom's number on the screen.
"Yes mom?" I answered while I'm still busing reading the report in my hand.
"Did you forget, you have a schedule for the final fitting of your gown today?" She asked.
"I remember mom, relax." I can't help but laugh. She sounded so tensed.
"I'm just reminding you dear, I want everything to be perfect during your big day."
"I know mom, and I'm thankful that you're helping me out."
"Okay, you better tell Alex! His suit is ready for pick up too. I heard his very busy in the city hall. He might forget about it." It's amazing how she manages to attend to all these things.
"Mom, I never thought that you have a talent in wedding planning." I said jokingly.
"Of course, you'll be married only once. I want to be in-charge!"
"Okay, I promise to go there right now. So stop worrying okay? Bye, I love you mom."
"I love you more baby."
I put down the phone then arranged the papers on my table. I gave my secretary some instructions before heading to my car. Alex is in the middle of his meeting. So maybe, I'll pay him a visit, and give him a little bit surprise since he has no idea that I'll be in his office.
When I got to the city hall, his secretaries recognized me right away so they guided me towards his office so I can wait for him there. His office is very clean and organized. There is their family portrait hanging on the wall. He's very handsome. I'm really lucky! I'm busy checking out his office when the door opened. A wide smile automatically formed on my lips expecting Alex was the person who entered the room. But my smile became stiff when Carmela came in instead.
"You need anything?" I tried to be nice to her. As much as possible, I don't want to create trouble with her regardless of how rude she is, since she is Alex's closest friend and assistant.
"No. I just heard that you're here and I thought it's the best time to talk to you about something." she said with a very serious face.
I wasn't able to control my eyebrow now from raising.
"Sure. About what?" If she thinks that she can intimidate me with her true colors just because Alex is not around well, she needs to think again.
"It's about Alex. I won't bother denying the fact the I like him. Even when we were kids. I stayed with him through thick and thin and I cannot let him be hurt because of you. He's too precious to me."
I really underestimated the shamefulness of this woman. I gave her a sarcastic smile.
"You know that we're getting married days from now. I don't think it's still appropriate to have this confrontation with you. I've been gone for 5 years, and like you've said, you've been there for him through thick and thin, so why didn't you do anything if you really love him this much?"
"Because Alex is engaged to you. He almost worshipped you but what have you done? You're playing with fire in the city while Alex is here believing every word you said and respecting your privacy. I wishing that he can finally come to his senses. But I can't take it anymore." she said angrily. Suddenly I felt so anxious. How did she know all this? I made sure that my life in Manila kept private.
"I-I have to go. S-something came up." I have to get away from here. I walked straight towards the door.
"Do you really think that you can keep, your partying in Manila, dating men for years, and lying to him all this time from Alex forever?" I froze on my track. I'm still holding the doorknob but I can't find the strength to open it. She grabs my arm and forced me to face her.
"He still doesn't know right?" she said challenging me.
"I-It's not your damn business." I pulled my arm away from her.
"Well if you don't tell him. Believe me, it will be." she said threatening me.
"H-he loves me. I-I know he can forgive me."
"Then why aren't you telling him yet? If you're really confident that he loves you that much then tell him before your wedding. I'm giving you this opportunity to tell him, but if you don't I will. Mark my word." She said it before leaving me inside the room helpless.
I walked towards the receiving area to sit. I almost fell off the sofa. My body is shaking. What should I do now? I buried my face in my palm. Days from now is the schedule for our wedding. He'll hate me for sure. I cannot stand that! and most importantly, I cannot lose him.
I almost jump off my feet when I felt a hand over my shoulder. I was so surprised when I saw Alex standing next to me. I stood right away trying to fix myself and to avoid his stares.
"Hey love, something's wrong? I've been calling your name multiple times but your mind seems to be traveling somewhere else. Are you okay?" He asked worriedly.
"Y-yes I-I'm fine. J-just stress from work." I pretended to be looking for something inside my bag turning my back at him. He pulled me closer then gave me a very tight back hug.
"Is that so, hmm? Well, maybe you're really tired just like me. We need to recharge. I love this feeling." he said then he held me even tighter. I held his hands which are on my stomach then closed my eyes. Please don't hate me too much. I can't lose you.
We ate our lunch together before going to the designer of my gown. I'm trying my best to look normal despite my anxiousness. He also noticed my silence but I'm glad he didn't insist on discussing it. He actually believed me that I'm just tired so he sent me home to rest.
Lies and more lies. Until when Leila? Honestly, I don't know.
