Chapter 4

1216 Words
Zariah's POV Due to my late studies last night I wake up late and literally have to rush through my morning routine. I move downstairs to join Zackary in his car for a ride and... "He left without me?" I ask the butler and he nods. "That piece of shoe." I frown. Maybe it's his revenge prank against me for making sure his laundry wasn't done during the weekend. You see that Rufus doesn't do his own laundry, unlike me. He leaves it at his door for the maids whenever he's going out for the weekend so I hid it in the supply closet only to put it back at his door last night when I arrived before him. But not driving me to school is not a good prank from someone like Zackary. He's a mastermind, don't tell him I said that, when it comes to pranks. I have a feeling the real prank is going to school early. Crap! I have the chauffeur drop me off at school and I thank him before running off. Campridge high. Just imagine a huge institution for elites with great facilities, high security, discipline and great academics. Okay more like the best in academics. Thankfully I arrive ten minutes before the exam and stumble into Elle in the hall way. "Why are you out of breath? And your hair." She looks at my hair disapprovingly and I roll my eyes before catching my breath. "I have to settle down five minutes before my exam." I walk to my locker with Elle behind me. "Yeah we all do, it's a core subject." She replies sarcastically whilst hugging her books to her chest. I take out my student ID and place it on the card scanner but my locker doesn't open. My eyes narrow and I exchange confused looks with Elle. I try again not bothered at all because this thing happens at times and in the end the locker opens. When it's still not working I study my card and realize someone has burnt part of the serial number. I frown and show the card to Elle who gapes. Only one person comes to mind. "What are you going to do? You need your card to participate in the exams." Elle states the obvious and the speakers installed everywhere in the school announces for students to settle. "I'm gonna kill him." I mutter underneath my breath. Elle lets me put my bag in her locker and I borrow some writing materials cause it looks like I'll be needing them. The whole school quiets down and everyone settles in their respective seats which is arranged in alphabetical order of our surnames. Yeah, I'm sitting behind my devil twin brother. Whilst everyone waits quietly for the exams to begin Zackary looks behind and smirks at me before looking forward. Did I say I was going to kill him? There has to be something worst I can do. "Start work!" The five minutes of waiting is over and everyone begins signing in with their cards to begin. Now here's my problem. We are a paperless school and we only use technology for most of our daily school activities. Basically the only place you'll find paper in the school is the visual arts department because, well they're into drawing, then maybe the personal books of students. I need my card to sign in and start the exam, without my card I'm totally useless. Also invigilators/teachers won't enter the exam hall until thirty minutes after the paper has began. I'm totally screwed. Well not quite. The teachers leave us with CCTV cameras most of the time, but trust me, we are students and students will always find a way to cheat in exams. You just have to be smart enough to not get caught. I decide to raise my hand in high hopes that one of the teachers will see me in the camera room. I hear Zack chuckle in front of me and I frown. Two minutes after raising my hand and other students glancing at me like crazy, a teacher finally enters the hall. She walks over to me and I explain my predicament to her. **** Argh! "I'm guessing it didn't go well?" Elle eyes me with a curious smile and I maintain my angry face. "I did it on paper." I finally breakdown into a sad face and Eleanor gives me a hug before handing me back my bag. "It's okay r****h, you're smart, I'm sure you aced the test." I pull back and glare at her making her chuckle. She's wearing her hair up as usual, she only does that in school. Our skirts are knee length matching with the grey color of our blazers. "Do you know how frustrating it was to write the answers instead of choosing them? I think I lost my mind at a certain point." She pulls me along and out of the hallways into the cafeteria for lunch. "Don't worry. I'll teach Zacky a lesson for you." I chuckle. Yeah she calls my brother Zacky at times. It's to hurt his stupid bad boy ego. We settle at our usual table and I look around at the student population. Being in final year is really not easy. We are almost done with one out of two of our final exams before college and Zackary wants to ruin my grades. He should know better that to touch my grades. It's game over for him. * Since we are done with school for the day, Elle and I decide to go to our favorite milkshake spot before heading to our respective homes. We use the route through the car park which is filled with shiny expensive cars that can blind one's sight in the sun. I spot my twin brother with his stupid red hair, surfer curtains styled, that he uses to charm the girls and makes me want to vomit. Don't get me wrong. Zackary is actually an attractive person, in the eyes of others. I mean he's 6'1, red haired, has our signature green eyes and a nice teenage body physique that will make most girls go crazy. But he just doesn't use his good looks for good. He's obnoxious and on top of that the number one player in school. I'm embarrassed to have him as my brother, honestly. He's sitting on his Porsche car surrounded by his close friend and some admirers. I stop walking to watch him closely. Where did he get the uniform from? It must have been Conrad. He's one of Zack's best friend. "Why are we stoping?" Eleanor acts all nervous whilst romantically daydreaming about Conrad right beside me. Yes, he's the crush. "Let's go." I grab her hand and almost move my feet but the other best friend arrives and I pause. I swallow just looking at him and my brain stops functioning when he smiles. Suddenly he looks in our direction and my heart skips a beat at his stare. He smiles my way causing me to blush before he waves at me. I wave back and thankfully because of our distance he won't notice my face looking like a tomato right now. "Let's go." Elle yanks me along and we're soon halting a taxi.
