Chapter 9
"When's Cory coming?" I asked.
"Oh, he's coming with our parents," she said then looked at her watch. "Soon,"
The door opened revealing a tall, willowy woman. Her face looked kind and gentle. She was wearing a gold dress, which hung around her body in an attractive way.Behind her a handsome man, who looked a lot like Cory walked in. Then Cory himself, followed by a familiar looking man.
"Wow, Santana!" gasped Cory. "You do really look...beautiful," I smiled modestly, while Cory introduced me to his parents. I learned that they were called Jane and Eric.
"When's Nate coming? " asked Georgia.
"Soon," replied her father.
"Who's Nate?" I asked attracting attention to myself again.
"My brother," replied Cory and turned his back, avoiding more questions.
"I'll go and grab my purse," I said and rushed upstairs. As I walked down the stairs, I heard another person come into the house.
"Really, Cory's date is the kindest so far" said his mother.
"Good for you, brother," sneered another familiar voice. Who was it? Did I know his brother? I walked into view. The guy standing by the door turned and I was shocked at the sight of him.
"You...you're Cory's date?" he choked. It was Nathan. And Cory was his brother. I avoided his eyes, and Cory's expression grew confused.
'Explain later' he mouthed to me. Nathan then walked out.
"I'll meet you there instead " said Nathan. "Change of plans,"
Outside, a limo was waiting. Cory watched my expression, so I pretended to be surprised.
"Wow," I said. "I've never rode in a limo before,"
"Well, now you have," whispered Cory.
We got into the back, and Georgia walked hand in hand with the other man I couldn't recognize. I realized it was Kevin McDonald.
"What's up between you and him," asked Cory.
I had to make something up. I couldn't say that I had slept with his brother. Why? Do you care about him then? I had to come up with an excuse fast. Why not tell the truth. What difference will it make, if you don't care about him?
"I...um...he and I got of on a bad start. You know...he's kind of a moody guy and when you bump into him..." I trailed off, but Cory nodded, like he believed me.
"Just in case you're wondering, we have the same mum but different dads, so that's why we've got different surnames He's a year older, but he ditched most of his time so we're in the same grade"
The car pulled up by a building. The place was crowded and there was a lot of paparazzi. A valet opened our door, and I got out gracefully. I had done this before and it came naturally to me. My posture changed into something graceful, which was a reflex action.
The cameras started flashing, and they first took photos of everyone, including Cory and me in a couples pose. Another car pulled up and Nathan stepped out. Then he reached his hand into the car and helped out Babie's Twin. It was basically a blonde b***h, showing more centimeters of her skin that her IQ number. She was wearing a short, sparkly, low cut black dress, but despite my hatred to admit it, he did look like a celebrity from the red carpet.
After what I've been through with Nathan, I expected to feel jealous, but I felt sorry for him. And her as well.
Then came the group photos, and this time he held my waist tightly. That was probably the reason why I didn't fall from shock, when I saw my family get out of another car, around the second entrance.
