It’s already 9pm in the evening and a car drove into the Smith compound and Claire peep from the window and she saw the driver bringing out a suitcase from the boot of the car and she saw her mum coming down from the car and she ran to outside to embrace her mum.

“ Mum! I have missed you so much” she says and he mum hugs her tight.

“ I miss you so much too dear” her mum says and she walks her mum into the living room and the maids take her mum’s suitcase to the guest room and her mum notice that she is not pregnant.

“ I thought as much when you do emotional on the phone” she says and Claire wonders why her mum said so.

“ How do you mean mum?” She ask and her mum point at her belly and she put her head down because she could remember lying to her mum that she was pregnant.

“ I know the way you were emotional on the phone, it’s means you lost your pregnancy but you shouldn’t worry, I am sure you get pregnant again” her mum says and Andrew walks into the living room and she embrace Claire mum.

“ How are you doing Andrew?” She ask and Andrew smiled and replied he is fine.

“ I am sorry for the lost of your baby” Claire’s mum says and Andrew and Claire stare at each other.

“ Ehmm.. it’s fine but I guess, I will leave you both to speak. I will be upstairs in the room” he says and he kiss Claire on the forehead and he left them both.

“ Dear! Listen to me, you do not need to worry to much because you will be fine because this is not end of the world” her mum says and Claire’s eyes was filled with tears.

“ Mum! I have a confession to make” she says and her mum wonders what is it she wants to confess and they both walk to the couch and have their seat.

“ What is it you want to confess to me?” Her mum ask and she hold her mum’s hand.

“ I lied ti you mum that I was pregnant but the truth is that I was never pregnant” she says and her mum dropped her hands.

“ What do you mean?” Her mum ask and Claire could not looks at her mum in the face.

“ Some months ago, the doctor confirmed to me and Andrew that I am barren and I can try the children of my own so I was so angry and frustrated so Andrew and I decided to drug our personal maid Chantel so he could have sec with her and she will not know what happened and some weeks later, the confirmed that she was and I was so happy that I would become a mother and some a the doctor discovered that she was having twins and Andre and I were very happy but now she is no where to be found, she wants the world to make fun of me, she wants everyone to know my secret that I am barren after I and Andrew have a job and a shelter because she is an orphan and have no one” she says and she cried.

“ You did all of this and you didn’t Carried me along? If you had tell me about all this, I would have found someone else for you that will not disappoint you. Now she does not even know who the father of her children is. Poor girl” her mum says mad Claire at her.

“ What is your plan now? What are you going to do?” Her mum ask and Claire thought of if that stepsister Chantel was still in the family she would been helpful.

“ Only of you didn’t chase Chantel away, she would have been useful to me and she will never think of running away like my maid did” she says.

“ I did this for your own good Claire. I had to chase her away so that she will not have share in your father’s properties, I was scared because when I sent you Canada to study your dad was showing her a lot of love and I was scared she might win your dad’s heart that is why I decided to move to Washington with our dad so that she will never know about our whereabouts” her mum says and then she remembered that Claire’s maid is also Chantel.

“ What is your maid’s name again?” Her mum ask.

“ I know what you are thinking mum, she is not the same Chantel we know. Why won’t I recognize my own stepsister even though I hate her” Claire says.

“ You went to Canada when you were ten and it’s possible you don’t recognize her again because it’s been a very long while” her mum says and Claire also think about it.

“ You said that, she is an orphan?” Her mum ask and Claire nods her head yes.

“ Yes mum” she replied.

“ Do you have a clear picture of her?” Her mum ask and Claire remembered that she kept a selfie they took together when they found out she was pregnant.

“ Yes mum, I was a picture of her. Give me some minutes” she says and she search for the picture on her cellphone and she found it and she show to her mum.

“ Have a look mum” she says and her mum recognize her well because she was already a teen when she chase her away and mum stood up and stare at her.

“ It’s Chantel your stepsister” her mum says and Claire got shocked.

“ What? What have I done? This could lose me to loose my husband” she says and her mum told her to have seat and they both seated.

“ How do you mean?” Her mum ask.

“ Andrew needs this children badly and he will never let them go and if he found out that Chantel is my stepsister, I don’t know what might happen, I can’t afford to lose Andrew just as I lost Henry in her hand years back and I am very happy that she will never lay her eyes on Henry again” she says in anger.
