Adam surprisingly slept soundly that night. His pain ebbed away when Lucy arrived and, with his wolf healing abilities, he knew most of the damage would be fine by the morning. When he woke, it was to the smell and warmth of his mate curled into his body. Her black hair was a wild tangle on her head with dried flaking blood around her lower face. She was a mess, but a beautiful mess to him. Adam smiled at her fondly and his heart clenched at the thought of her being here.
The attack happened late into the evening when Jordan decided to pull Adam away from work, and yet she had come. Not only that but she must’ve shifted alone and run all the way from town to be here.
