Work went quickly for Lucy that evening. It seemed like mere minutes from when Adam dropped her off at the restaurant to when she said goodnight to Sebastian and began her walk home. The air was crisp, encouraging Lucy to hug her coat tightly closed as a shield against the night. At this time the pavements were as bare from other people as usual, with only an occasional car passing her. It had been a while since she walked home alone.
