Lucy woke with a sharp jolt which raked her stiff body. She tried to focus her mind and open her eyes but a foggy haze, from lack of sleep, descended. She grumbled and rolled on to her side, or at least she attempted to, before a sudden, sharp burning pain fired up and down her arms, yanking her mind from its daze. “S**t!” She hissed, rolling back to her previous less painful position. Lucy started to take long deep breaths to slow her panicked body from the surprising pain, but on her first inhale, the stench of burning flesh reached her nose, making her gag. She choked on the smell that was filling her senses, threatening to clog up her windpipe. Her breathing became shallow. Her chest’s rise and fall was rapid. Her mind raced.
