Chapter 4. Unravelling Secrets
Gabby noticed that Kendall wasn't falling for his new behaviour so he changed back. He became so cruel and wicked.
He started saying a lot of harsh words and also raising his hands on his wife.
Henry went on a business trip to London so he wasn't aware of everything happening.
The marriage was a living hell for her.
"I need to leave this house!" I can not continue like this. Kendall said sobbing with wounds all over her face.
Gabby went out with his friends and he came back drunk. When straight to Kendall's room.
Kendall was so scared when she heard a knock on the door because she knew it was Gabby. She opened the door a few minutes after she heard the knock.
She was holding a stick because she was ready to fight back.
Gabby got angry when he saw the stick.
"Oh really? Do you want to hit me now?" Gabby said angrily. He grabbed her hair and used the stick she held to hit her.
Help! Someone help! She screamed But no one heard her voice. She was covered with blood. Gabby rushed her to the hospital.
"Mr. Gabby, can we know what happened to your wife?".The doctor asked Gabby "She was hit by a car". He answered with crocodile tears.
Kendall was in agony as the doctor examined her injuries. Not only were her wounds painful, but her emotional turmoil was immense as well. Gabby stood beside Kendall showing faux concern with his eyes clouded over in worry.
As soon as Gabby had finished being examined by her physician, he turned back around to Gabby and advised, "She has sustained several injuries but nothing seems life-threatening. Please give her time to recover both physically and emotionally."
Gabby nodded again, his expression still filled with concern for Gabby's well-being. "Thank you, doctor. Please ensure she receives the best care available."
Kendall had just sighed deeply as she lay alone in her hospital room, gazing out the window as her mind raced as she considered all her options for how best to live her life amidst abuse, lies, and other forms of mistreatment. It had all become too much for her.
Days passed into weeks, and Kendall's injuries gradually healed. With each passing moment, her resolve to escape increased as she realised she couldn't rely on anyone but herself to break free of Gabby's grip.
Late one evening while Gabby was out attending a business dinner, Kendall took advantage of an unexpected opening to make a move on Gabby. Gathering her belongings with all her strength, Kendall headed toward the front door hoping that it wasn't locked behind her twisted knob in fear that it might lock shut and was met by silence from outside.
As she opened the door, to her shock and delight it swung open, leaving a clear escape route: out into the cold night air of New York clutching a small bag containing essential items, but simultaneously experiencing fear, uncertainty, determination, and hope all at the same time.
Kendall had made arrangements to meet Henry at a predetermined location, knowing she could trust him in her quest for freedom. As she made her way through New York's dimly lit streets, her steps took her further away from a life she desperately desired to leave behind.
Once Kendall reached her meeting spot--an old, quiet park bench hidden amongst trees--Henry was waiting patiently with worry on his face, ready for Kendall. As their eyes met, her emotions overtook her, triggering tears to fall freely down her cheeks.
She finally managed to utter, with difficulty. "Henry," she whispered. "I can no longer bear him; I must get away from him."
Henry rose from his chair and wrapped his arms around Kendall in an embrace, offering comforting words: "Don't go through this alone - I'm here for you, Kendall. Together we'll figure it out."
As Henry held Kendall, she felt relief come over her. For once in what had seemed an endless nightmare, Henry provided safety. For once - at last! - Kendall believed there might be hope out of it all.
"Let's create a plan," Henry whispered into her ear. "We must expose Gabby's true intentions so you are freed from his grasp."
Kendall nodded, determination blazing in her eyes. With Henry at her side, Kendall felt renewed strength and optimism for an improved future. Together they leaned against a park bench with their hands intertwined as they devised a plan to finally uncover Gabby's secrets and reveal her as the person they were.
Over the following days, Kendall and Henry worked tirelessly on their plan. They gathered evidence of Gabby's abusive behavior in secret while gathering witnesses against him to document it further. Furthermore, they reached out to lawyers and investigators to build a case against Gabby that would both free Kendall while also holding him responsible for his actions.
As they worked towards freedom together, their efforts met with numerous hurdles and close calls; yet their resolve never wavered. Kendall found strength both within herself and from Henry who became her true ally in their fight for liberty.
As their plan began to come together, Kendall's fear began to transform into courage. No longer was she trapped in an abusive marriage; instead she had become an empowered survivor fighting back - with the prospect of exposing Gabby's true nature even fuelling her determination further.
One day they finally made their move. Armed with evidence and legal representation, Kendall faced Gabby one last time, this time in courtroom proceedings. As they revealed the truth behind Gabby's facade of villainy and revealed who truly he was - Gabby fell like an ancient statue before their eyes!
The court granted Kendall her divorce and made Gabby face legal consequences for his actions, providing Kendall a sense of relief and strength that allowed her to stand tall and proud as an example of resilience and triumph.
As Kendall exited the courtroom, Henry stood ready with an enthusiastic smile on his face to greet her and embrace. Henry knew they shared an inextricable bond that went beyond words - his presence having marked Kendall's journey from toxic marriage to finding support in unlikely places.
Kendall and Henry rose to meet each challenge that lay before them with confidence that love, trust, and determination would carry them through whatever was thrown their way.
