I’d just zipped close my weekend getaway suitcase when I received a text from Dera.
Dee: morning C, you wanna go get some treats to celebrate your first relationship?
The moment I read it, I realized that I’d absolutely forgotten to tell Dera about my plans with Kyle and his friends this weekend.
Me: That's so sweet and thoughtful, but how about a rain check? I'm spending the weekend with Kyle and his buddies.
Dee: oh, I had no idea. Please be careful around them, okay?
Me: Of course, but if you get to know Kyle a little more you'll realize that I'm most safe when I'm with him.
Dera started typing a response but a call from Kyle came in so I had to gather my things and rush downstairs because I knew he'd be waiting a block away or so.
