The Truth She Didn’t Choose

1216 Words

Giulia didn’t go far. That was the problem. She told herself she needed space, distance, silence—anything that would clear the noise Matteo had left behind. Instead, she found herself walking without direction. The city felt too loud. Too sharp. Too aware of her. So she kept moving. Out of the glass towers. Out of the streets that smelled like power and secrets. Until the roads narrowed. Buildings shortened. Voices softened. A small-town edge tucked just outside the city—quiet, slower, almost unfamiliar. She stopped there. Finally. Breathing. Thinking. For once, not reacting. The wind brushed against her skin, carrying something lighter than everything she had just left behind. And for a moment— She let herself feel it. Not Matteo. Not Alessandro. Just… stillness.
