ZION'S POV A knock on my door caused me to look up from my laptop. I said, not particularly interested, "Come in." Nia, the assistant, peered in. "Miss Yvonne reminded you that your guests will arrive in fifteen minutes, sir." I nodded and waved her away. "Okay," I said. Ever since she began organising this dinner, Mrs. Marva has been humming. She pretended that it was the most significant event of the year. To be honest, it most likely was for her. She was rejoicing as if she were a king or queen. I sighed and leant back. The present was more than dinner. It was a prelude. The dinner served as a prelude to the matchmaking process. Additionally, there were conditions attached to this matchmaking process. large ones. Papa Roy had announced the news as if it were commonplace. For example, it was casual to say, "Hey, you’re marrying someone we picked years ago." Even though they were married for love, they had the audacity to do that. Why they would go this far still baffled me. The Marleys were doing well. Their company was doing well. Why bring me into this mess, then? They were all seated in the sitting room when I descended the stairs. There were hugs, laughter, and the typical phoney warmth. I nodded to Darius. His eyes flickered in understanding. Words weren't necessary. We've been acquainted for too long. Then, Miss Marva embraced someone affectionately. Amara Marley was there. The Marleys recently adopted the girl. She had her hair tied up as if she were older than she actually was, and she wore a long gown that exposed her legs. She was young, though, as anyone could see if they looked closely. She's probably still figuring herself out. "Hello," she murmured. She seemed to be staring at me. Once more. I refrained from rolling my eyes. What's with all the staring? Older girls are no longer the only ones who stare. Even very young children now engage in this behaviour. Just as I was about to give her my trademark "stare back into your soul" expression, she blurted, "Your son is very attractive!" There was silence in the room. All heads turned. even mine. Miss Yvette laughed. Miss Marva smiled broadly. I let out an internal groan. Fantastic. She is a good communicator. I need a talker. She would blend in perfectly with Miss Marva and Miss Yvette, her best friend. I gave a small smile and couldn't resist. Her blue eyes met mine, and I quickly averted my gaze to avoid sending the wrong message. Dinner continued. The majority of the conversation was between Miss Marva and Miss Yvette narrating stories drawing everyone into their jokes. Then it took place. It was a moment of matchmaking. Bright-eyed, Miss Marva turned to face me. "Sometime, Zion, you ought to show Amara around Kingston Builders. Let her observe your actions. Amara's mouth exploded with juice. Her face was burning red as she coughed, contrasting with her pale skin. She appeared to want to curl up in the chair. I made an effort to remain calm. Calmly, I stated, "The building is only for professionals." Could you please clarify the necessity of her visit? Is her purpose solely to distract my employees? I pushed back my chair. "Pardon me. I need to speak with Darius about business. Darius followed me out to the veranda and stood up as well. After pouring myself a glass of whisky, I took a sip. We gazed at one another. There was a slight pause in our conversation. At last, he said, "Talk." "How do you feel about her?" He furrowed his brow. "Why do you ask me that?" "I need to express this clearly to someone who can comprehend it." She is too young and immature, has no knowledge of life and is tiny. For example, what is her age? "Eighteen." "Exactly. The individual in question is 18 years old. He is far too young for such a situation. I combed through my hair. "Is she aware?" He did not say a word. "What? Hold on. Don't claim she is unaware. He didn't respond. "Darius, what the hell?" I gave a headshake. "So she's drinking juice without realising that we've arranged for her to marry me?" He let out a sigh. "My dad will soon tell her. He's holding out for the ideal time. "Excellent. Simply ideal. He gave me a direct look. "When are you going to share all of this with Keisha?" My heart fell. I would rather not deal with that part. Not right now. This is not the time to make a decision. "It's likely that she is also unaware. The media team has done a fantastic job of keeping Amara out of the public eye. "Is Keisha still in the Caribbean Islands?" "Yes. I'm not sure how she will react. I put my hands over my face. Darius persisted. "You must inform her. Finish up before the wedding. "You think it's that easy?" His eyes narrowed. "Do you really believe that I can discard Keisha in that way? I've known her for years. She is more than just a person. He gazed. "So, what are you going to do?" Remain with her and wed Amara?" I didn't respond. He gave a headshake. "You can't have both." I turned my head away. Without saying another word, he retreated inside. Then the silence struck once more. I had a positive outlook as I stood there and observed the night. Everything was heavy. When the girl entered that room, she had no idea what had drawn her in. What about the one on the other side of the ocean? It was going to crush her. Options,Two routes. Both were painful.
