Alpha Niklaus immediately moved to the place where the sound came from. There he saw a small girl, maybe twelve years old, being blocked by two werewolves in front of her. The little girl was cowering in fear. Her face was covered with both palms, her body was shaking violently, and she kept screaming her father’s name.

Was the hunter he met earlier the father of this girl?

“Wait!” said alpha Niklaus just as the two werewolves were about to pounce on the little girl.

Both of them turned their heads, they immediately saluted Alpha Niklaus perfectly while bowing so obediently.

“King Alpha Niklaus!” said the two werewolves.

“What are you doing? Stop it!”

“But, King Alpha Niklaus, this girl is a human!”

“So what if this girl is human?”

“It is a strict prohibition for humans to be in our territory, King Alpha Niklaus. Have you forgotten?”

Alpha Niklaus fell silent, his jaw tightening. His eyes, which were once bright red, were now caramel brown again, especially when he saw the little girl looking up. Her beautiful blue eyes was looking at him.

“Isn’t there another rule if we strictly prohibit killing humans? We are bound by that oath, aren’t we?”

“But—”

“Don’t tarnish my name the pack in this world! Have you forgotten that just last night I was made King Alpha in our pack?”

The curly-haired werewolf was about to argue again, while the other werewolf immediately held his friend.

“We know who he is!”

“Is it because we are beta that we just obey his orders? Even though he is a King Alpha descendant of the King Alpha Jaxtyn Saint, it is clear that the two are completely different.”

Even though the two of them communicate with inner knowledge, but Alpha Niklaus can hear that. He bared his fangs again and tried to protect the little girl. The two werewolves immediately ran away. They disappeared behind the dense dark forest.

After the situation was safe, Alpha Niklaus crouched down. He closed his eyes for a moment so that his body was whole again like a normal human being in general. His handsome face, pale skin, caramel brown eyes beautifully framed by a pair of thick black eyebrows. He had full maroon lips and beautiful smile because there were dimples on his cheeks.

"You're safe, you can return to your place." Alpha Niklaus told.

The girl who was none other than Jane finally looked up, she was still trembling with fear. How could she not? Jane knew very well that the figure that resembled a human who was currently crouching which was only less than one meter away from her was not human. He was a werewolf. And his position as King Alpha was something no one can contest. The highest rank that could be called a king of an enormous empire, let alone a pack of werewolves that was definitely thousands of times more mighty and powerful than anything else in this world.

Alpha Niklaus held out his hand, but Jane stepped back and hid her hand. Jane’s tears pooled at the corners of her eyes and almost fell.

“Please don’t eat me!”

It was a small sentence that managed to make Alpha Niklaus speechless, then Alpha Niklaus laughed out loud at that.

“Are you afraid of me?”

Jane nodded.

“Did you think I would eat you?”

Jane nodded again.

“Do you think I’m that terrible?”

Jane nodded a third time.

“Don’t worry, I won’t kill you, harm you, or hurt you. I just wanted to save you from the two werewolves.”

“Aren’t you a werewolf too? From what I heard, you are a King Alpha. You are the king of the werewolf kings!” said Jane hysterically.

Alpha Niklaus was silent again, he knew that the girl in front of him was so afraid of him. Maybe, or indeed since she was little the girl had been given suggestions by her father that werewolves were terrible figures that humans had to exterminate.

“My father said that werewolves are the most terrible creatures in the world, and they must be killed! They … I mean you killed my mother when I was just born!”

Alpha Niklaus was silent again, he looked back at a pair of blue eyes which had now become wet. There was a deep sense of loss, those beautiful eyes radiated a dark trauma. Alpha Niklaus couldn’t bear to hurt her, or even injuring her.

Then he closed his eyes, giving a warning to his two friends earlier not to kill the hunter who wanted to kill them. He asked them to simply mislead the hunter and let the hunter leave this area.

“Go home, I will never hurt you.” Alpha Niklaus spoke.

Jane was still silent, she looked around. How could she go home, when in reality she did not know which way to go? She didn’t even know how she got here. The surroundings of the forest were the same in her eyes, thick with tall bushes and towering trees and also very dark.

“Go home!” snapped Alpha Niklaus a second time.

Jane gasped, she immediately sat up perfectly. She covered her ears tightly, then she replied, “I don’t know the way out of this forest!”

Holding his breath, Alpha Niklaus stood up. Then he put his hands into his trouser pockets.

“Come on, I’ll walk you back to your place.”

Jane didn’t believe it immediately. She was still in her position while looking at Alpha Niklaus with fear.

“If you are here much longer, then I will make sure not only I will kill you but the other werewolves too. You know this place is not a safe place for humans, right?”

Jane finally got up, swallowing hard. While clenching her fists beside her thighs, she immediately nodded strongly.

“Okay!”

An answer finally escaped Jane’s tiny mouth.

Alpha Niklaus finally breathed a sigh of relief. He started walking in front of Jane. But every now and then he closed his eyes, seeing how Jane’s expression was. The little girl was still afraid to look at him, she gave a considerable distance.

“Know that this forest is very dense. One step too late you will get lost and will be attacked by wild animals.”

Hearing that, Jane immediately ran as hard as she could to get closer to Alpha Niklaus, so that she was at least close enough to Alpha Niklaus.

But who would have thought that it actually ended badly? Alpha Niklaus stopped his steps, until Jane’s body was perfectly hit by Alpha Niklaus’s sturdy back. Jane, who almost fell, was immediately caught by Alpha Niklaus. Alpha Niklaus hugged Jane’s body perfectly. The two pairs of eyes looked at each other. Until the holy and clean smell that was so fragrant from Jane’s body made Alpha Niklaus swallow his saliva involuntarily.

“Can I taste you?” whispered Alpha Niklaus to Jane. His words managed to make Jane hold her breath perfectly.
