Disappointed

“Alpha Nicklaus?” Nicklaus helped Jennifer to her feet, his heart suddenly beating wildly as he looked into her sparkling eyes. Is this crazy? She was human. But how could Nicklaus start to feel infatuated? “What’s with that expression, Miss? Is something scaring you? Tell me, and I’ll immediately stop anyone from scaring you.” Jennifer shook her head. The woman’s expression was one of panic, and even trying to remain calm, she couldn’t. “I just wanted to find you, and I really want to meet you,” Jennifer said. Whether to say it now or not was what she felt right now. Jennifer swallowed hard several times. “My father asked me to come back to the city.” Silence, silence. Nicklaus listened to the news in silence, and Jennifer remained silent after he said it. Nicklaus’s jaw clenched, but he gave Jennifer a small smile. “Why are you sad, Miss? Isn't that good for you?” he said. It was a sentence Jennifer hated, and she hadn't expected Nicklaus to say it. Jennifer wanted to be fought for, she wanted Nicklaus to hold her, and she wanted him to assert his ownership. Hadn't they already slept together? So what was the point of their passionate exchange in bed if now they were strangers again? In fact, what Nicklaus had just said made it seem as if he didn't even consider the act of s*x to be meaningful. “What's wrong with that, Alpha?” Jennifer asked, beginning to feel uneasy. There was anger in Jennifer's heart, a desire for clarity about everything that had happened, and this made her woman's heart demand justice. "Aren't I right? You're human, you're a woman, and you're still young. Living in the wilderness like this, alone and with only your father. Eating what you need, without any interaction with outsiders, without the amenities you'd have in the city—do you think that's normal? Wouldn't it be much better if you returned to the city and lived like a human being, like a normal woman?" Nicklaus released Jennifer's grip, and Jennifer gasped even more at the sight. It was quite painful, and this was certainly not a good thing. "Live a decent life in the city, like any other woman. Go to school to learn social skills and so on, interact with people like you, hang out with the proper girl group, go to beauty salons, shop, and live a normal life as a woman, as a human being." "So, did you think I was a weird girl all this time?" Jennifer asked, feeling incredibly disappointed. Jennifer smiled bitterly, then took a deep breath. "Of course, it's just like you said. A human, especially a woman, in the middle of the forest is truly strange and odd. How could it not be? In the middle of the forest, there's nothing: no malls for shopping, no salons for grooming, and no schools for learning. There are no other humans, and you can't live a decent life. Okay, you're right now..." Jennifer said, backing away with her head down. "And I think now I know what happened between us, about what happened in my room that day." “Jane—” “I’m just a stupid, uneducated woman who you can easily fool, right?” Jennifer smiled again, roughly wiping away her tears. “Okay, I know. I thought only humans could hurt women, but it turns out that’s not the case. In fact, even men—wolves—can do it far more effectively than that.” Jennifer immediately ran away, causing Nicklaus to grip her hands tightly. “This is for your own good, Jane. Trust me, I’ll definitely find you someday.” Nicklaus leaped into his full wolf form, roaring in pain and heartbreak.
