As Fiona Ruan approached the entrance of the villa, she hadn’t even changed her shoes when she heard a young female voice emanating from the living room, laden with impatience. “It’s so annoying, everyone is calling me to ask why. If you didn’t know, you’d think I was making someone wear a cuck.”
Another, older female voice responded, “You should have the opportunity to marry into the Jason Chang family.”
The young woman scoffed, “Do you still think marrying into the Jason Chang family is a blessing? I can’t even compete with others in being publicly mocked for wearing a cuck. I don’t want that so-called blessing at all.”
“Lower your voice.”
The young woman’s voice grew louder, “Isn’t it my own home? Can’t I speak? She can break reporters’ legs and still dares to break mine?”
“As long as you haven’t taken money from Jason Chang.”
A calm voice suddenly pierced through, and the two women on the sofa turned their heads simultaneously to see Fiona Ruan standing not far away, dressed in black casual pants and a white shirt. The older woman quickly regained her composure and stood up with a smiling face. “Fiona Ruan, you’re back.”
Fiona didn’t smile, responding coolly, “Aunt Vivian Sun.”
Vivian Sun replied, “You just came out of the civil affairs office, and now there’s a bunch of people chasing after you, asking about the divorce details, looking to watch the spectacle. I’ve already told Jessica Fu to shut them down. Who’s daring to watch other people’s dramas?”
Fiona Ruan asked, “Who is she?”
Vivian Sun answered, “People you don’t know, those who aren’t even qualified to attend my wedding. Stay away from them in the future.”
Vivian Sun was instantly taken aback. Jessica Fu, sitting on the sofa, didn’t even lift her eyes, sarcastically remarking, “The people around me aren’t of high enough status, while yours are noble. Even when bullied to the top, I haven’t seen you dare to do anything to them.”
Vivian Sun frowned, “Why are you talking to your fourth sister like that?”
Jessica Fu retorted, “Did I say something wrong? She’s the one causing the divorce, and the whole Fiona Ruan family is losing face because of her. Who did I offend? I’ve been cursed with bad luck for eight generations.”
Vivian Sun glared, pretending to go after Jessica Fu, while Fiona Ruan stood her ground, her expression unchanged. “Do you want me to apologize, or do you want to settle accounts?”
Vivian Sun quickly explained, “No, no, such a big incident, we’re all very worried about you. Come and see if we can help.”
Fiona Ruan responded calmly, “Sorry for causing Aunt Vivian unnecessary worry.”
Vivian Sun protested, “Don’t say that, we’re all family…”
Jessica Fu snorted coldly, “Stop sticking your warm face to cold asses. You treat us like family, but we just want to align ourselves with the Jason Chang family.”
Vivian Sun flipped her face, cursing, “You brat, have you been eating something wrong? Is it your fourth sister’s fault that things turned out like this? Does she want outsiders to scold her? You can’t help your father and your fourth sister with business worries, and you can’t blame your fourth sister for not doing enough at a time like this. She’s your age, and getting a divorce is already hard enough. And you’re still mixing in with this mess!”
Fiona Ruan’s voice remained steady, “Aunt Vivian, have a seat and talk.”
She walked straight past Vivian Sun and approached Jessica Fu, looking down arrogantly, “Stand up.”
Jessica Fu looked up at Fiona Ruan. Fiona’s presence was imposing not just because of her towering height of nearly 1.75 meters but also due to the aura cultivated from her youth by Wilson Fu, enduring countless battles in the business world. If young Fiona Ruan was domineering, the current Fiona Ruan was utterly arrogant, treating the entire Wilson Fu family and their scheming father with disdain.
Jessica Fu became increasingly dismissive, her body involuntarily tensing up in defense. Vivian Sun approached from behind, trying to persuade Fiona Ruan not to stoop to Jessica Fu’s level.
Fiona Ruan looked coldly at her, her tone even colder, “This is Dad’s seat.”
Jessica Fu and Vivian Sun’s expressions were equally dramatic—surprise, tension, unwillingness, all eventually turning into fear.
Jessica Fu threw her pillow aside and stood up unhappily, “How dare you mention my father! If my father had any misfortune, it would be because of you!”
She tried to walk past Fiona Ruan, but Fiona Ruan unexpectedly struck out. With a loud “smack,” Vivian Sun watched silently as Fiona Ruan slapped Jessica Fu across the face, causing her to stagger and fall.
The living room fell silent for five seconds. Jessica Fu covered half her face, turning her head with shock and anger. “How dare you hit me! Are you crazy? Dad said Fu family members don’t hit Fu family members!”
Vivian Sun hurriedly stepped forward, her eyes full of concern as she tried to show Jessica Fu’s face, “Let me see…”
Pulling back Jessica Fu’s hand, Vivian Sun saw clear red slap marks on her face. “Don’t even think about going out for three or five days.”
Vivian Sun turned her head sharply, tears welling in her eyes, feeling wronged, “Fiona Ruan, no matter what, you can’t hit people. If Jessica Fu is still immature, I, as her mother, can teach her a lesson. Just because your father isn’t home doesn’t mean you can bully us mother and daughter like this…”
Fiona Ruan looked at the mother and daughter huddled together, her eyelids barely moving, cold and ruthless, “Aunt Vivian, for your sake, I didn’t have anyone break her legs.”
Vivian Sun and Jessica Fu’s pupils dilated in surprise as Fiona Ruan continued calmly, “Knowing that Dad is recently unwell and hospitalized, yet you keep saying ‘trouble’ and ‘death.’ You can scold me, but don’t curse Dad. I don’t like hearing that.”
Vivian Sun appeared angry but couldn’t speak, while Jessica Fu bit her lip, gritting her teeth, “Stop using Dad against me!”
Fiona Ruan coldly replied, “If you weren’t surnamed Fu, would you dare talk to me like that?”
Jessica Fu wanted to say, “Who do you think you are?” but upon meeting Fiona Ruan’s gaze, she felt an invisible hand gripping her neck tightly—not just her neck, but her entire body. She didn’t dare move a muscle.
Everyone in the Fu household, from the eldest to the youngest, knew who Fiona Ruan was. She didn’t need to be the fourth young lady of the Chang family; just being the fourth young lady of the Fu family was enough to instill fear.
Even Vivian Sun, from the first generation of the Fu family, had to avoid Fiona Ruan’s sharpness, grabbing Jessica Fu’s arm, “Let’s go, let’s leave.”
Jessica Fu, fearing Fiona Ruan, couldn’t help but throw harsh words as they left, “Wait, this isn’t over!”
Fiona Ruan paid her no mind, instructing the workers standing at a distance as if invisible, “Sanitize the sofa. Dinner will be ready in ten minutes.”
Even a fool could hear that Fiona Ruan was publicly berating them, walking out angrily. Jessica Fu muttered, “I’m going to the hospital to find Dad!”
Vivian Sun neither nodded nor shook her head. Upon exiting the villa, she saw a dazzling all-red sports car parked in the opposite yard. The black racing stripes on the car’s front were particularly eye-catching—a brand new Ferrari LaFerrari.
Standing beside the sports car was a tall figure in jeans and a white T-shirt. Normally, Jessica Fu wouldn’t dare to provoke Jason Chang or challenge handsome men, but today was different. Jessica Fu hated Fiona Ruan and found everyone around her despicable. “What day is it, getting married? Or do you think a red car can cover up a cuck? Stop deceiving yourself!”
Jason Chang looked up, not deliberately frowning, but his beautiful eyes were like two black icebergs. His voice was calm, “Miss Fiona Ruan, tomorrow is your birthday. Mr. Fu is bringing you a birthday gift.”
Jessica Fu and Vivian Sun’s faces visibly turned green. They hadn’t expected that swinging his powerful arm would result in a slap directed at themselves.
Before they could recover, Jason Chang fixed his gaze and added, “A reminder to Fifth Miss, Mr. Fu doesn’t want to hear those three words. He’s given us orders—wheelchairs are plenty, except for the Fu family members.”
