The Duel (Part 1)

He watched calmly as the time loop continued as constantly and repeatedly as it had been set. He wanted to learn these techniques that are time-related and to do that, he had to focus on this creature's anatomy… especially now that it is alive despite being dead. And just like that 50 years passed in a blink of an eye. Yao had successfully comprehended a couple of time related techniques from the creature and many more creatures. And finally, it was time to leave Zicuen mountain. No one needed to remind him that he had to leave now or else ancestor Shang would definitely find it suspicious that Yao had emerged from the mountain. In front of him was the hourglass of exit. Yao needed to power up the hourglass with his spirit essence so that it would grant him exit and that he did. The next minute, his body was illuminated by a gray energy and he was transported out. The moment he appeared out of the mountain, Yao could sense the fluctuation of time as it tried to resume its flow… He saw Ancestor Shang and Shang Fa frozen in place. A gray distortion rippled around Yao and he moved from one moment to another… appearing behind Elder Shang Fa, and decided to play along with the current event around them. And finally, time resumed as Yao heard Ancestor Shang questioning Shang Fa with a terrifying pressure slamming the man into the stone platform. “Where had you taken him to? Where is he?” Yao's eyes turned bloodshot and he said. “I'm here.” It was because of Shang Fa that he is able to get the opportunity to raise his strength and now, he couldn't just watch as the man is being subjected to torture. Ancestor Shang turned sharply, seeing the young man behind him…even Shang Fa was stunned. To them, it had been a moment… Shang Fa glared at Yao suspiciously, because naturally, it felt as if he had simply stepped in and walked out due to the time stop. So he didn't know the hell that Yao had to face for more than a thousand years… under that timeless mountain range. Shang Fa already knew about the situation of the mountain because he had tried to enter once but didn't have the courage and necessary strength to endure. But Ancestor Shang himself had never entered so he did not know that time would be frozen outside if someone entered. Shang Fa stared at his ancestor and the man sighed. “Return to the groove.” And his body flickered as he vanished. Shang Fa stood up immediately as he approached Yao slowly… in fact, there was no change at all. ‘Did he misuse the opportunity I gave to him?’ Shang Fa did not know whether he had misused the opportunity or taken advantage of him… his problem is… Mo Shen is in the Intermediate stage of the true qi realm and Yao had only managed to successfully clear 7 acupoints. Mo Shen had monstrous talent just as Yao had so the guy must have broken through so he wanted to be sure that Yao would be able to fight back even though he wouldn't win. And of course, Yao did not show any sign that he had succeeded, just plain nothing and his current aura was weak. Shang Fa closed the distance between them and asked solemnly, almost like he was bleeding in his heart, that he had given this opportunity to the wrong person. “What happened there?” Yao turned to the man and a wolfish grin appeared on his face. “You'll see.” Yao was only a small spirit realm cultivator and yet Shang Fa on the Emperor realm could not see through his cultivation realm. Yao had not only been training and obtaining more time related techniques, he had also been comprehending the true nature of the Ninefold concealment technique and now… he was concealed to the level of an advanced stage true qi realm cultivator so that was what Shang Fa sensed. Shang Fa decided not to bother him as he grabbed his shoulder, disappearing with the boy. Three days later, it was time for the duel. The sword sect was crowded for this very same purpose because… every cultivator would like to challenge the winner just so that they can broaden their horizons. Mo Shen quickly arrived, becoming the hot sensation in the celestial sword sect. The fact that he had broken through to the Supreme True Qi Master within three days was quite horrifying. It could be said that the young man truly had freaking talent… and yet, this talented young man was a troublemaker. Shang Fa and Shang Yi arrived at the duelling arena where the fight would take place. Shang Yi was the same, cold and aloof. The man still didn't trust Yao's arrival into the celestial sword sect and now, he wanted to duel with one of their geniuses…how much more trouble can his arrival stir up? Yao finally arrived, his hands behind his back as he stared deeply at Mo Shen. He was proud, his aura was earth-shaking… It was his way to tell the world that he had advanced to the peak of the true qi realm and would likely soon attempt a breakthrough. Ancestor Shang sat somewhere far away, but he could clearly see the arena as his two geniuses were about to fight. Shang Fa finally manned the event and said. “Ok, everyone stand back… as for the duelists, ancestor Shang has decided to give anyone who wins the True art of the Naked sword.” A gasp immediately tore through the crowd. Murmur rose instantly, probably telling the significance of the Naked sword art. That particular sword art could lead one to invincibility so hearing that the winner would be getting the True art of the Naked sword, Mo Shen smiled as he turned sharply towards Yao and of course, Yao wasn't really interested in the Naked sword art… He didn't even need any more techniques as long as it was sword-related. The ones he had now, he needed to build them up to perfection and only by grooming them could he achieve that… so he didn't want techniques that he wouldn't have the time to focus on. Shang Fa turned to Yao and said… “Duellist get into the arena…” Mo Shen immediately leapt through the air and landed in it. Yao chuckled softly, seeing his pride… Yao would have simply flown into the air to show them that he was now a small spirit realm cultivator, but just flying alone would give him away… he wanted to surprise everyone, including that cocky brat. So he walked majestically, slowly, taking his time and not bothering anyone until he reached the arena. Finally, “Let the duel begin.” Yao immediately bowed to Mo Shen and Mo Shen bowed back and just after that, Mo Shen lunged forward with terrifying speed, and a three-dimensional sword orbited around him.
