Spirit Platforms

Finally, it was as if the downward mountainous range came to an end, bringing to life, a bridge that stretched itself endlessly over the vast river of time. Yao stared darkly at the river, not wanting to have anything to do with it just yet… But the swaying bridge seemed to be the only way forward so he brought himself towards the bridge. The moment he anchored a modicum of his weight to the bridge, there was a deafening snap as whatever held the bridge in place came loose. Yao was right to have tested the bridge without blindly stepping on it… however now, he watched the bridge disappear into the river of time below not coming back again to the surface like Yao had thought that it would. He blinked… ‘Wait… what about time, manipulating space?’ By right, the bridge that had fallen in is supposed to restart it's fall from the top in a loop, due to the manipulation of space and yet he watched the massive behemoth sink into the river and causing a massive wave crashing on all sides as the river of time gurgled and boiled. Another thing to consider now is, how he was supposed to make further progress in the journey without a bridge as a medium. His eyes darkened, his jaws clenching in thought. “How inconvenient…” His arms folded across his shoulders as his back straightened. He stared deeply at the expanse before him and then decided to use his spirit energy as a medium… Since he could transform his spirit energy into a boat, then he could likewise make it a bridge. Taking a deep breath, he unleashed his spirit sea and started taking the necessary breathing exercises. With his eyes closed, a swirling energy converged into a chilling drifting orbs and immediately, his eyes snapped open… These drifting orbs suddenly shot into the air, forming a small platform enough to carry one man's weight. Yao started to race towards the expanse and he stepped upon the flat platform of spirit energy, jumping onto the next that appeared… Behind him, the ones already crossed are transformed back into swirling energy and absorbed by Yao only to repeat the platform position in front of Yao. But… Yao was still a true qi practitioner… he had limitations and that caused him to quickly burn up his reserve of stamina. The river of time was endless, his spirit platform kept appearing in front and disappearing behind. And even if Yao could see his stamina burning through, he still persisted… The river of time was no laughing matter. For now, he didn't need to be told not to die here so, he gave his all, burning through everything until he eventually got to the other end. The moment he stepped into the other side, it was as if a strange barrier erased the other side from view, making it impossible for Yao to go back or even see the river of time he had successfully escaped. Drained and tired, he collapsed on the floor as he tried to get a couple of hours rest. In the next couple of hours, he was jolted awake by a terrifyingly low growl that caused all the hairs in his body to stand on end. He was lucky to have gotten out in time because that particular spot he lay had been pulverized and decimated… Looking ahead, there was a strange creature which barred its fangs at Yao almost like it was sulking for not doing a clean job earlier. So if Yao had been any moment slow, then he would have likely taken a hit that would decapitate him. Two inscriptions suddenly lit in the void as Yao's eyes grew cold.
