Switching Timelines

Yao's expression changed as he saw something moving through space. That movement was like a blink in and blink out and before he could react, the creature was before him, opening its maws filled with long jagged and sharp teeth. And its jaws locked tight, trying to grind Yao to dust but luckily, the third eye had helped him comprehend the full power of the inverse step. The inverse step made it look like he was escaping using forward movement, yet when applied, it makes the user move backwards. This skill was true for deception and that is what he had done to the creature, making it think that Yao was going in one direction only to surprise it and take another. The heaven and earth lock manifested again and this time, Yao did not hold back. Golden ripple covered the starry sky and like a lock, it pressed down upon the creature, instantly giving Yao the chance to decide which of the creature's techniques to lock down. Knowing what to do, he quickly locked down whatever technique that allows it to increase its power continuously. Yao knows that if things continued this way, then this creature's eyes would keep transforming until it would be able to reach a point that Yao would not be able to do anything to it. Yao shivered realising that he seriously needed to breakthrough…soon or else he might die. He might have used worldly lock to lock down the technique that boosts the creature's rank, but the level the creature is now, is already enough to crush him completely. Its strength could even rival a Great Emperor cultivator… that was almost 4 rank above him. Even a realmbreaker would not be able to survive… But what made Yao confident is the fact that its current strength is as a result of a technique’s boost…meaning that it wasn't in the Great Emperor realm so he conjured a sword from the void and the ambient spirit energy gathered around it, causing the air around to fluctuate wildly. Yao moved with inverse step, deceiving the creature and the sword moved through space vertically striking at nothing because, this creature had vanished leaving only a trail of indigo distortion in its wake. Yao suddenly remembered that it could also use the power of time. The worldly lock appeared above the sky ready to descend at his command while Yao moved fluidly. Suddenly time changed and everything returned back to when the creature's maws were about to grind him to dust. Yao's pupils shrank immediately, realising what had happened… And right at that moment, its indigo eyes tried to undergo a transformation. Luckily for Yao, the worldly lock did not just lock down its transformation technique, it also locked down the previous timeline which means that… Yao had to release the creature’s transformation ability in this timeline just so that he would be able to return to the previous one. The worldly lock simmered with a divine light and there was a deafening snap. A distortion suddenly played upon the universe and then— Yao opened his eyes realising that he had returned back to the original timeline, the worldly lock which hovered above the sky, waiting to be commanded finally descended at the probably shocked creature. And it locked down the creature's transformation ability yet again instantly suppressing its time related ability. All it took was a moment for Yao to make decisions, calculate and even strike… it was all done with the help of the third eye which rotated frantically, almost like it was about experiencing a malfunction. Yao used the soul of swords causing a maelstrom to appear from above, only to roll forward, towards the creature… An earth-shaking sound erupted when the creature realised itself and tried to retaliate. Its humanoid form was instantly blasted backwards by the shocking impact. Then, the indigo in its eyes dimmed, falling down to purple… Then Yao realised… ‘So it has to be seriously injured for its strength to drop significantly.’
