Reed watched Fia as her gaze followed Kai walk away, but there was no softness in them, no longing, just distance. Her gaze shifted to Avel, who leaned in to speak with her before following Kai, and that too, made Reed uneasy.
The vibes he got were strange—off. Especially since he believed Fia was supposed to be Kai's mate.
Yes, Kai had denied it. Repeatedly, in fact. But Reed hadn’t believed him. Not until now. Because, as he stood there watching how they greeted each other, there was no sign of a connection between them. There was no subtle energy and barely any warmth. Instead, there was disconnect and coldness. Perhaps Kai was not lying after all. But, what exactly was he doing in her dorm this morning?
