Jett held Fia tighter as she sobbed against his chest, her body trembling even as he held her tightly. His heart was racing from the dawning terror creeping into the corners of his mind as Avel's phone went unanswered. Her words sounded insane, especially because he had just spoken to Reed, who sounded very much alive a moment ago.
