I’ve been employed for three months at Castillos Fine Dining, the family restaurant of Tyrone.I was entitled to a compensation of $35 per hour for nothing more than helping to monitor the inventories and pantries to ensure adequate stock rotation and storage. It’s crazy that a 48-year-old mother of three is engaged in a one-sided feud with me because, in their opinion, “I am the chefs favorite,” but that’s how much the majority of the crew despises me.
“Tanya!”
“What is that camel toe?
“What are you considering right now? Please refrain from telling me that you are still considering your Romeo et Pablo even if I had asked you to pass me the bottle of Château Margaux a hundred times.”
The only person I connect with at Castillos Fine Dining is Camilla, my dearest friend at work.If you ask me, the name “maitre d’hôtel” is quite whorish and seductive. She is the maître d’hôtel.
Although I know I screwed up horribly, Because I lost the business card, which may have slipped off the uber and possibly been hidden by Wena, So o was unable to call Pablo.
I have always known that everything is against me.
I didn’t lie when I said, “No, I’m not touching a $235,000 wine, thank you very much, and I’m definitely not thinking about him, just here to check the inventory.”
“Then get out of here, I have a real job to complete.”
“You’re just being shady right now,”I snorted,
“I’ve got to see that this bottle makes it to the table.”
“I’m hoping it breaks so you’ll have to pay $235,000,”
“Before I forget, Tanhole, we have a health inspector coming the day after tomorrow. And I love you too.”
“Ok ? In what way does that concern me?
“You are a staff, it’s entirely your responsibility”
“Whatever, there aren’t any bugs or rats here. There’s no ratatouille s**t going on here.”
“It’s not just that, either.”
“Keep standing there holding the bottle containing our combined life savings.”
I go into the pantry when she laughs and walks away.
In an effort to kill time while browsing the pantry, I made a new inventory table and included each item in its own row, including grains/pastas, dry ingredients, wet ingredients, etc.
After spending what seems like an eternity in the pantry. In order to check if there was anything further I could do or if an adult wanted to settle their job dispute with me, I shut the pantry door and went outside to the front of the house.I shut the pantry door and went outside to see if there was anything else I could do or if an adult wanted to settle their work dispute with me.
Then I heard that laughter, which, if I were deaf, I swear I could identify anywhere.I searched the space with my eyes for a specific woman with a toothy build.
“Tanhole, what are you doing up front?”
“Not now Camilla.”
It must have been a quick rush of blood to my head that caused me to lash out because as soon as I saw her back and her distinctive tan burnt skin, I ran up behind her and struck her like a charging ram using all my weight. She had a platter of truffle mushrooms in front of her, which I pushed into her face.
I yelled, “You shameless b***h!” as I dragged her silky dress and made her stand up, slapping her in the process.Various parts of the restaurant could be heard emitting gasps and oohs, which I could hear. I didn’t care, and all I wanted to do was tell her what was on my mind before Tyrone and the security chief seized me.
“Tanya, what the heck? “ Mid-rat’ssurprised expression when he saw me. What is that?
“How dare you? How can you treat my father like a piece of meat that just for your devouring? Fuckk you and your ratface; you are extremely repulsive. I yelled as I was being brought into Tyrone’s office.
“What exactly is wrong with you Tanya?” Tyrone questioned me. “You just started a commotion. “That stupid cunt had the audacity to come to my mother’s funeral after all the harm she has done to my family, with the help of the man I called my father?”
I restrained my tears.
“Knowing that my mother’s death left her heart permanently scarred because of her loveless union with a deceitful scoundrel hurts me. Can’t even begin to express the deep anguish and contempt I currently feel toward them.“
He told me to sit, “Breathe Tanya breathe,” and I reluctantly complied. I’m not sure when the tears first started, but they wouldn’t go away. I suddenly let out every feeling I’d been holding in for the previous few months.
“I’m going back there to make things clear; if you feel like it, you can take my car and go home.”
“I’m sorry for making a scene, Ty. Thank you.
“I recognize that your feelings are valid.”
He nods and walks out of the office. I stay there for twelve minutes and then do likewise. As I enter the changing room, Camilla is there.
How are you, Tanya?
“I have to go, but we’ll talk about it on the phone,”
I gathered my belongings and left through the back door. I had the need to hit something and vent my rage on it as I walked the four minutes to the park. For the second time today, I sobbed as I leaned against a chilly wall. I honestly believe that the cosmos is telling me to leave Texas permanently, even though I had previously believed that I had overcome my traumatic background.
The numerous occasions he caused my mother to cry in front of me while she was secretly receiving cancer treatment before I discovered it, pretending that it was because she had a hard day at work. It did absolutely no good to think about how emotionally abusive my father was.
The greatest choice at the time was to listen to some music.
My phone was nowhere to be found as I dug through my pockets.
I muttered the word “f**k” under my breath and set out to return to the restaurant. Nearing closing time, the front house appeared sparse with few patrons and empty tables. I hastily went to my locker after passing the rear door, but it wasn’t there.
Going to Tyrone’s office in the hopes that he won’t be there. I cautiously pushed through the door and let out a shocked gasp. The scene in front of me was a revolting image of Camila sucking Tyrone’s face or whatever the heck they were doing.
“Ty did you see my phone? I’m just here to take it..”
Since I couldn’t tell how precisely Tyrone was in front of me, I believed that nothing could move quicker than the speed of light. “Whatever you saw Tanya.....”
I looked around the office and noticed it on the chair where I was sitting. “I didn’t see anything, I’m just here for my phone,” I said. “Oh, there it is”
“Just murder me now, please. “After exhaling, Camilla put her head in her hands.
She can speak, which is a marvel; God really does operate in wonderful ways, doesn’t he?
“Being the Maître d’hôtel is not simple; the strain is tremendous, but there are benefits as well. You clearly worked extremely hard to be where you are today. Big ups, Queen. We need more women like you it’s safe to now say that indeed I’m not the chefs favorite .” I gave her my biggest grin and thumbs up while she looked away .
“Keep your distance from Camilla Tanya; you ought to be facing me.”
I returned to Tyrone with all of my focus.
“Discussing disrespect? She has no respect for herself, and neither do you. I’m departing Ty, and I’ll be dropping off my resignation letter first thing tomorrow. I appreciate your hospitality. We need more kind-hearted men like you in the world. Isn’t that right Camilla? “
I left his office without waiting for a response and stuffed my phone into my pocket.
