Thiago The pack elders said it felt like everything in your body was screaming to break free. That it was the only way they could describe what it’s like to meet your mate. My brothers and I have spent every day since our wolves emerged, searching within our pack for someone who would ignite that feeling. Finally we had given up, believing that our mate was not within the walls of the SilverClaw pack. Our father on the other hand did not share the same belief. He was under the impression that we were refusing to accept our mate bond, and that we had already met our mate. I could understand why he thought that way, he had just stepped down as the pack alpha and feared that if we didn’t find our mate, the council elders would deem us unfit to rule, or worse the alphas of the other territories might challenge us for our position, believing that fate did not choose us to be alphas of our pack. We were triune werewolves which made it a lot more difficult to find our mate, and up until that day at the class, we were beginning to believe we would never find her or feel the mate bond. But it was just as the elders described it. The moment we saw her in class that day, everything froze, and I felt a wave of electricity running through me. It felt like my wolf had come alive just then. It didn’t make sense to me at first. She had silver eyes and long auburn hair, but other than that, she looked just like an ordinary human. But as I turned to see my brothers, their expressions confirmed what I was already thinking. They both felt the same surge of energy and in that moment, we knew it. We had found our mate. Her name was Luciana. Quite fitting if you ask me. There was this aura of light around her, and a hidden strength underneath her simple exterior. I couldn’t see it at first, but after following her around school all day, seeing how she stood up to Isabella, there was no denying it. Even though she seemed like a human, she showed courage and strength that even some werewolves lacked. Quite frankly, we could care less about Isabella even when it was more than obvious that she wanted Mateo, but knowing how Isabella was, we had to ensure that our mate was safe from her bullying at all times. Mateo had instructed Lorena using a mind link, to watch out for anything out of the ordinary with Luciana and also protect her. I know spying on her like that seemed intrusive, but we had to know for sure. Lorena was a beta from our pack, and just the right person for the job. It was hard for anyone to suspect her or keep her at bay because of her amiable demeanour and small look. However, we didn’t need Lorena to report anything for us to see how extraordinary Luciana was. We watched her repeatedly complete a challenging obstacle course earlier in gym practice from the last row of the arena, moving with a strength and speed that even some werewolves did not have. It didn’t make any sense considering she was raised by humans, and because of that, her wolf had not yet emerged. There was only one way to find out what her truth was, how she was able to do the things she did easily. With that flowing in our minds, we decided that we had to monitor her closely, both in school and at home. But in order to do that, we needed to find out where she lived, and keep whatever we found away from our father’s knowledge, including the fact that she was our mate.
