Mum and Dad

“I don't understand.” I say “Neither do I, son, you weren't supposed to be here until you turned 16.” the man mutters to himself. “Well, why don’t you come in and we can talk.” The woman said I'm not going to call them mum or dad until I hear the whole truth. “I understand you have questions, and I think we can answer almost all of them, but first, are you Riley or Rayn?” she asked “Riley,” I say, they just smile at me. This kind of reminds me of when I met Izzy and Adam. we make our way over to some couches to sit, when we are seated the men say “let's start from the beginning then. And we can answer questions as we go.” “ok, but before you start. Can you tell me where I am, cause my spirits said that when I'm in the dream space it’s just going to be me and the guys.” 

“Ok, well. I'm the demon king of hell, and your mother is the goddess of pain. One of her brothers, Morpheus, is the god of dreams, he created individual dream spaces for supernaturals to be able to concert and bond, and train with their spirits while they sleep. Your mother and I asked him many moons ago to let us share one, and the one you and your brother will be able to share because of the necklaces. Anyways, when you entered yours, he must have let you into ours so that we could meet.” the ma--dad said. 

“Ok, can you explain all of this to me now?” I ask 

“well…” Mom starts “over 10,000 years ago, your father and I met when I went down to earth to get away from my family. We met and it turned out we were mates. W--” “what are mates?” I interrupted 

“mates are soulmates as some people like to call them, that my sister, Selene, pairs together. A mate is like your other half. You will love them forever, and they you, you can feel what the other feels, there are sparks when you touch that makes everything a 1,000 times better, their scent is the best and most intoxicating thing you will ever smell in your life and if one dies, a part of the other dies too.” mom explained. 

“So a mate is a person you will live forever, and there are signs to find each other, and if one dies the other will never be the same. ok. please continue the story.” 

Dad continued the story saying, “when we met, we couldn’t believe it. The demon king of hell and the goddess of pain. Your mother's family was overjoyed that she found her met, and my parents were happy as well. Because they always said that I could become king when I found my mate. A week after we found each other, I became king and your mother queen. The thing was that we wanted kids, but with the types of supernaturals we are, our DNA, everyone we talked to about this said it would be extremely hard, but we never gave up. About nine hundred years ago one of your mom’s witch friends came to us, and she was a special witch cause she would get visions. When she visited she brought this amazing news and a warning. The great news was that we would have a child, and the warning was that the week the baby would be born, there would be an attack and an attempted to assassinate the child. So--``I cut him off to say “so.. You're saying a witch came and told you that you would have a baby and that the week the baby was born there would be people that would try and kill the baby.” mom said “yes. That's what we are saying.”

 “ok,” I say. Mom continued the story this time. 

“We knew that you wouldn't be safe after you were born, so we told Lizzy and Ellie to take care of you until you were 16 then we would meet, and explain everything” mom finished. 

“So, the week after we were born there would be an attack to kill us. But you guys sent us away so we could live.'' I say. 

“Well, now ha you know, I was wondering if you could tell us why you're here, you shouldn’t be here until you're 16.” mom says. 

“Well. when I was7...so … 5 years ago. Ellie and I wherein the cottage one day and we were attacked.'' I pause and look at their faces. Mom looks like she’s going to cry and I know dad's sad too but trying not to show it. 

“Ellie gave me a bag and a letter, and I ran. I ran west into the woods until I couldn't anymore. I then climbed a tree and waited a few minutes, I then opened the letter and it said that I'm not human, that my mom was a goddess and my dad was the demon king of hell, that I have a twin brother named Ryan, and that he was with Ellie's sister Lizzy. It also talked about a necklace. That the necklace would bring my spirits to the surface earlier, but I didn’t know what that meant. I put the necklace on and met them. There are five of them, Killen, Mason, Eli, Aaron and Grayson, then for the next 2 years after that, I lived in the woods on my own. I eventually came to a village, got on a train, and when I got off I went to dinner and that's when I met Izzy and Adam. They are nice people that have given me a home for the last couple of years. They own a dojo/gym. I get homeschooled, cause I wanted to learn as many martial arts as I can. We do school every day except for Sundays, and alternate between martial arts and learning about nature every other day. Soya” I finish. At some point when I was talking, I looked at my lap, so I looked up at mom and dad. “So when you were attacked you left and found people that took you in.” dad said “ya” “what do you like to do in your free time?” Mom asked, “ I don't have a lot of free time, but I like to go hunting every Saturday morning with Adam and his friends. I like to draw, and I also like to bake with Izzy.” I say. 

‘It’s time to wake up, if you don't want to sleep through your alarm, come find us.’ I hear Killen in my head.

 “I’m sorry but I have to go. Kilen said that I need to find them and then wake up.”

 “Oh. You get up at 5:45” mom said surprised. 

“Well I need to have alarms starting at 5”45 or I won’t be up at 6:00,” I tell them “why do you need to get up at 6,” dad asked “ well, I like to go for a run in the morning cause it's really quiet. Then we do school, then we go to the gym or outside.” I say “well we don't want you to miss your run. But do you think we could come with you to find this Killen?” dad asked.

 “Of course.'' We exit the house and go to the forest. 

“So you know how to fight?” dad asks. 

“Ya, and I’ve mastered everything I’m taught,'' I tell them. I look up at their faces and see proud smiles on them. I chuckle to myself and say “if you're proud of me you can say it.'' I tell them. Dad then said, “I'm proud of you son.” “Thanks, Dad, I have a question.” “What is Riley?” mom asks. “Do you know where  Ryan is?” I ask in almost a whisper. “Yes, we do. Do you want to know where he is?” dad said. “Yes! Hell ya…. Sorry, it's just that ever since I found out I have a brother I wanted to know where he is and to meet him. But of course, I wanted him to be safe first, and I now know he is, and I just hope he and aunt Lizzy will be ok and stick together.`` I say looking down on them. 

“But I think I should wait.” I continue. 

“Why is that?” Mom says.

 “Well I would be going alone, and I'm just going to start training in the dream space so I want more training with the guys and I just don’t think I'm ready yet. But I know for a fact that I will be with him on our 16th birthday,” I say 

“well we won't tell you until you're ready.” dad said. 

“You know. When aunt Ellie said that my dad was the demon king of hell. I wasn’t expecting this.” I say with a laugh. As we walk through the woods we talk about random stuff. When we come to another clearing I see the guys and they have confused faces on, seeing mom and dad.

 “Hey, guys.” 

“Who are they?” Grayson asks.

 “They are my mom and dad,” I tell them. They still have confused faces. Killen then asks ‘but how are they here.’

 “They are here because my mum's brother Morpheus let them be here. Morpheus is the god for dreams and apparently created the dream space, and let us meet.” Now their faces look less confused, then Aaron says “you should leave/wake up now, if you don’t and are still asleep when Izzy and Adam wake up they're going to think you're sick.” 

“You're probably right. So how do I leave?” I ask with a hint of sadness. “Do the same thing you did to get here,” says Eli. I close my eyes and then I feel my bed. I open my eyes and I'm in my room. “4 more years, four more than I can see my brother,” I whisper to myself.
