The journey back to his palace was a quiet one. Xaliber's mind raced with questions he had no answers to. He did not understand finding his mate so late in his life. Normally, a werewolf finds their mate as soon as they come of age. Then again, Amyntha has just come of age. If Amyntha was his true mate, then what of Tyrione? All of those questions worried him less than the feeling within his heart. He no longer felt the pain that Tyrione once left. The moment he locked eyes with Amyntha, all the millennials of pain disappeared as if it were never there. How is that possible? How could thousands of years of agony vanish so quickly? Furthermore, if he had to kill Tyrione at that instant, it would not pain him. Unless, Amyntha is Tyrione.
"NONE OF THIS MAKES SENSE!" He screamed aloud in his head.
"Tell me about it." Makhaira replied.
"I wasn't talking to you!"
"Then think to yourself! You are mind linking the entire clan!" Makharia responded.
"...My apologies. I didn't mean to." Xaliber responded. Thousands of gasps could be heard. The Alpha King no longer sounded like himself. For the first time in over three thousand years, he sounded like himself. "I mean, get out of my head!"
"Xaliber, you've changed. It's like something in you rolled over and revealed another being."
"Makhaira... You aren't wrong. I don't understand why, but everything I felt before we arrived at that village.... It's all gone."
"What do you mean all gone?"
"I mean, gone. I feel no pain, no hatred, no anger, nothing."
"How can that be?"
"I don't know. The moment my eyes locked with that stupid child, everything changed."
"That...That is incredible! It's a little worrisome, but incredible."
"Do you think it is part of Tyrione's trick?"
"I don't know, only time will tell. Will you crown this girl as your luna?"
"She isn't worthy, she's just a dumb child. Her scent is so weak. She won't even be able to defend herself, much less the pack."
"I can hear you." Amyntha chimed in.
Xaliber's and Makhaira's eyes quickly darted to Amyntha.
"H... How is that possible?" Makhaira asked.
"I knew it! Tyrione's dark magic!" Xaliber said grabbing her arm and twisting it, pushing her forward.
"STOP! I .. I don't know how I hear you! I just do! I hear everyone!"
"You hear everyone?" Makhaira questioned curious.
"Yes! Even when people block themselves from others to think within themselves, I can still hear them. It's been like that from the moment I understood anything.
"And so it shall be, the moon goddess will set forth her own bloom to bring light to the dark, cleanse the blood that cloak the ground, bring life to the land of the dead, and rise the Alpha King from perdition." Makhaira recited. It was a prophecy that no one believed possible. It was a prophecy that was given shortly after Tyrione's death.
"It can't be." Xaliber whispered.
"But it is." Makhaira replied.
"Sorry, but what are you talking about?!" Amyntha interjected again.
"Stop doing that! Stop listening!" Xaliber yelled.
"I can't! If I could, I would stop it!" Amyntha yelled back.
"If she is the moon goddess's child, then why is her scent so weak? It can't be that a child of the moon is so... Nothing."
"Nothing? You see me as nothing?" Amyntha choked. "Please release me to my family. Unlike you, my family does not see me as nothing."
"Amynth—"
"Forget it." Amyntha interrupted before Xaliber could finish saying her name.
They approached a busy inn, and Amyntha found herself being dragged inside. Her eyes narrowed as a bountiful of food was set before her on the table.
"Go on, eat." Xaliber ordered. Amyntha began chewing on her lips and her face carried a face of worry. "What is it? Don't tell me the food isn't good enough for you. I had them bring all of the best."
"I...No... This all looks great, but... I... I don't eat meat." Amyntha confessed embarrassed. Xaliber and Makhaira who were busily eating quickly stopped and began to cough.
"What did you just say?" Xaliber asked flatly.
"I... I don't eat meat, I'm sorry! Please don't kill me!" Amyntha begged. Xaliber scrunched his face.
No wonder her scent is so weak. This stupid child doesn't eat properly. What am I going to do with this pathetic girl?!" Xaliber thought internally. Quiet! She is our mate! She is beautiful! She is the most amazing thing we've ever seen!" Xerxes shouted. Xaliber was shocked. His wolf hasn't spoken to him for more than three millennium. The last time Xerxes spoke was the day they killed Tyrione. It is one of the reasons that Xaliber believed Tyrione his mate. Why else would he remain silent after her death? First, he made an appearance to claim this girl as their mate, and now he is insulting Xaliber on her behalf.
"I...I don't understand, you've remained quiet for so long. Why do you choose to speak now?" Xaliber questioned.
"Because I never had a reason to speak to you. We killed our mate. Now we have mate back. I can't let you ruin it again." Xerxes snipped.
"You know, if she is Tyrione, we will have to kill her again."
"NO! I will never forgive you. You will go mad without a wolf and mate!" Xerxes screamed.
Amyntha looked up, eyes filled with fear. She heard everything Xaliber and Xerxes said to one another. Xaliber's eyes met with hers and the realization hit. She can hear conversations between a person and their wolf.
"You... You can't possible hear —"
"I can." She whispered. She stood up abruptly and pulled the sword from one of the warriors standing behind her. Xaliber and Makhaira quickly rose from their seats as she held the sword to her neck. "Why not just do it now? If you have to kill me anyways, just do it now! I refuse to be tortured alive, wondering when my final breath will come at your hands. I will end my suffering before it begins!" She screamed attempting to drag the sword across her throat. Xaliber's agility pulled the sword from her grasp without effort.
"Don't you ever do that again!" Xaliber yelled.
"Or what? You'll have my head?!" Amyntha screamed. Xaliber's eyes darkened as he grabbed her by the wrist and dragged her towards one of the rooms they booked for the night. "W..What are you doing?" Amyntha asked afraid.
"Punishing you for your insolence." Xaliber said with a hardened voice. Once inside the room, Xaliber dragged Amyntha to the bed and turned her over.
"No! No! Please! Don't do this! Don't! I'm not ready!" Amytha screamed in fear. He was going to take her against her will. Her eyes widened when she felt his palm land against her backside. She went silent as his palm once again landed on her backside. He punished her five more times and turned her on her back.
"You act like a child, you should be treated as such. Do not dare attempt to take your life again. So help me moon goddess, I will.. Nevermind!" he yelled walking out of the room. Her stubbornness wouldn't allow her to comprehend any punishment he could possible put forth on her.
