Tom’s mood was lighter as he left the bank and headed towards The Huntress Inn. He felt good that he was starting on a venture where he would be solely responsible for the new enterprise's financial aspect. He considered this an opportunity to prove to his father and others, but more importantly, to himself, that he could carry on in the family business independently.
When he arrived, Hugh, Judi, and Kenneth were sitting outside at a small table, enjoying the afternoon sun. When he saw Tom approaching, Hugh said, “Hi Tom. Please join us. I will ask the kitchen staff if they can bring us some refreshments.” Shortly after he rejoined the group, cold drinks and finger foods were served to them. “So have you thought about our proposition?” Hugh inquired.
