88 Downward Spiral
As the bystanders witnessed the herding of the prisoners and were told that there had been no reason for the arrests, they eagerly joined their fellow citizens in the march of protest. The group had swelled to over three hundred by the time they were within sight of the castle. They were yelling and cursing everyone … the king, the pope, the Curia, the guards, and the bishop militia. Every one was swept up in the emotion of the moment; just seeing family members and friends being dragged away for no just purpose made their blood boil. They were now ready to stand up for their rights; to hell with the consequences!
