Chapter 002: Dangerous Psychological Games The bell rang, a sharp, metallic screech that shattered the suffocating silence of the classroom. For the students of Shadowvale College, it was an escape rope. They scrambled to pack their bags, casting hurried, terrified glances between the new transfer girl in the back row and the towering, motionless figure of Mr. Creed at the front. Within thirty seconds, the room emptied out entirely, the heavy oak door swinging shut behind the last fleeing student. Except Nyx did not move. She sat calmly, her hands folded over her cheap notebook, watching the blue ink drip from Mr. Creed’s palm onto his mahogany desk. "Miss Claire," Creed’s voice cut through the empty room like a blade. He didn't look at his ruined pen. He didn't look at the mess. His stormy gray eyes remained locked onto her face. "Close the door." Nyx stood up slowly. She could feel Leo pacing like a caged beast inside her mind, his imaginary claws tearing at her consciousness. 'Run, Nyx. He is death. He is a trap.' She ignored the warning. If she ran now, she lost the game before it even started. She walked to the entrance, pushed the heavy door until it clicked into place, and turned around to face him. "Is there a problem with my enrollment paperwork, Mr. Creed?" Nyx asked, her tone completely flat, devoid of the shaking fear every other student showed him. Creed didn't answer right away. He grabbed a crisp white linen handkerchief from his pocket and casually wiped the blue ink from his skin. The movement was slow, deliberate, and entirely intended to psych her out. He walked around the massive desk, his heavy leather shoes making no sound against the polished floorboards. He moved with the predatory grace of a man who knew he owned everything and everyone in his path. "Your paperwork is flawless," Creed said, stopping just two feet away from her. He was massive. He towered over her, his broad shoulders completely blocking out the dim light coming from the hallway window. Up close, his scent hit her like a physical blow. It wasn't just the expensive cologne of a multi-millionaire. Beneath the layers of cedarwood and amber, there was something else—the bitter, metallic tang of wolfsbane and the sharp, clean scent of pure silver.Inside her head, Leo let out a pathetic, agonized whine, retreating into the furthest corners of her mind. 'He carries the poison, Nyx. He has the steel that burns our blood.' Nyx’s heart hammered against her ribs, but she kept her facial muscles perfectly locked. She forced her eyes to stay fixed on his jawline, refusing to look down, refusing to show a single tremor of weakness. "Then why am I here?"Creed tilted his head, his stormy eyes scanning every inch of her face with a dark, suffocating intensity. "You have her face. The exact same nose, the same curve of the jaw. But Freya was a lamb." He leaned in closer, his voice dropping to a dangerous, intimate whisper that vibrated against her skin. "You look like you want to draw blood." "I don't know who Freya is," Nyx lied smoothly, her voice a cold wire. "And I don't care. I'm here to get my degree, not to be compared to a ghost." A dark, mocking smirk touched Creed’s lips. He raised his right hand, and Nyx caught the gleam of a heavy, solid silver signet ring on his finger. The metal was engraved with a crest—a stylized arrow piercing a wolf's skull. It was the hidden mark of the global supernatural hunter elite. Creed deliberately brought his hand up, his silver ring brushing a mere millimeter away from the bare skin of Nyx’s collarbone. The proximity alone made a wave of supernatural heat flare under her skin, her wolf spirit screaming at the lethal threat. "Don't lie to me, little girl," Creed murmured, his dominant aura expanding until the air in the room felt too thick to breathe. "Freya was weak. She left sweet, pathetic love notes on my desk and cried when the wind blew too hard. But you? You walk in here with an apex predator’s eyes, hiding a monster beneath your skin." Nyx didn't flinch. Instead of stepping back into the door to escape him, she took a bold, aggressive step forward, forcing him to maintain the suffocating proximity. She leaned up, her lips almost touching his sharp jawline. "Then I suggest you don't get too close, Mr. Creed," she whispered, letting a single drop of Leo’s golden warmth flash in the center of her pupils for a fraction of a second. "Because unlike the girl who died, I bite. And I don't write love notes." Mr. Creed’s breathing caught. His entire body went completely rigid, his massive ego visibly bruised by her total refusal to submit to his authority. But as his anger flared, something much more toxic took over his eyes. The dark, possessive obsession deepened. He didn't want to destroy her; he wanted to break her independence until she belonged entirely to him. He stepped back slowly, his eyes never leaving hers as he gestured toward the rows of empty desks. "I don't tolerate disrespect in my classroom, Miss Claire," Creed said, his voice returning to that cold, formal baritone of a teacher, though the underlying threat was clear. "You have just earned yourself daily detention after hours. Every day. Until I decide you've learned your place. Nyx grabbed her backpack and slung it over her shoulder, a cold, ruthless smile spreading across her lips. "See you after school, Mr. Creed." She turned the handle, threw open the door, and walked out into the foggy hallway. She had confirmed two things today: Mr. Creed was a lethal hunter who knew about her kind, and he was completely obsessed with her. The psychological war had officially begun.
