Chapter 7 Dominic Cooper

603 Words
Gabriel knew that Jasmine was lying in the hospital at that moment. She believed this time Jasmine would not have time to set a trap for her like last time.   In fact, she didn't genuinely intend to sleep with 'that person.' She just wanted to persuade the man, whoever he was.   It was no different this time.   However, as she knocked on the door and it opened, the sight that greeted her was a huge surprise.   “Are you surprised?” The man in the white suit smiled leisurely.   “Dominic Cooper? What are you doing here?”   “Why can't it be me?” Dominic opened his arms and embraced her warmly. “How have you been all these years?”   Gabriel felt a momentary tension melt away and smiled wryly.   Well, how has she been? Being sent to another man's bed by the one she loved, her own husband. Is that considered a good life?   “I apologize for my unconventional approach. I just wanted to see if I could meet you without any ill intentions,” Dominic said, trying to soothe her.   Finally, Gabriel couldn't hold back her tears.   Dominic was her high school classmate, who had given up studying abroad for her. However, she was oblivious to his feelings as she was entirely focused on Caleb. On the day of her marriage, Dominic left the country. They lost touch for years.   Gabriel didn’t expect that he turned out to be the chief surgeon Caleb mentioned, and he used this unusual way to meet her.   Dominic held her close, his heart filled with guilt.   Finally, he could hold her in his arms after years of longing.   Gabriel cried in his embrace, and Dominic offered her a glass of water after she calmed down.   “Last time, I asked you out to save Jasmine, I was surprised when Caleb agreed, but you didn't come. I'm glad you didn't.”   “Last time?” Gabriel was puzzled.   “Yes, it was the same hotel and room. Unfortunately, you didn't show up.”   Gabriel knew the last time wasn't at this hotel at all. It was all Jasmine's manipulation, but Caleb wouldn't believe her.   “A man who truly loves you will never tolerate his woman being with another man,” Dominic stated, inflicting pain but also offering hope.   Three years ago, Dominic chose to let go for her happiness. Now, he won't let Caleb use her love to hurt her.   Gabriel smiled bitterly. She was aware that Caleb didn't love her. But she had held onto hope, foolishly believing that she would warm up a cold stone someday.   Feeling embarrassed, Gabriel tried to change the topic, asking, “You’ll save Jasmine, won’t you?”   “I will,” Dominic assured her, looking into her eyes. “So, will you stay with me tonight?”   Gabriel was momentarily speechless.   Dominic chuckled, “I was just kidding, I'll take you back home.”   Gabriel felt relieved. She knew Dominic wouldn't be like that.   When they arrived at the gate of the villa, Dominic stopped Gabriel before she got out of the car.   When she turned to him, he kissed her neck gently.   “Dominic Cooper, what are you doing?”   “I promised to save Jasmine. And in return, I deserve something. Just a kiss. I think it’s something you can give me.” Dominic smiled playfully.   Gabriel knew he did it deliberately, but his words made her unable to argue.   “Gabriel, take a step back and consider those who are pursuing you. Caleb may not bring you happiness, but I can.”
