Having Anora pinned beneath me on the cold, damp earth, her small wrists trapped securely under my palms, I expected to find at least a flicker of submission in her face. I expected the raw, imposing weight of my Alpha presence to elicit some small hint of fear, or at least a timidness.
Instead, she met my gaze with an unyielding defiance that caught me entirely off guard. It was an unspoken rebellion that both intensely intrigued my human mind and set my inner wolf to howling a low, dangerous rhythm within my chest.
"You seek for trouble where there is none," I growled, a jagged thread of a threat lacing my deep voice. I pressed my weight down just a fraction more, letting her feel the absolute futility of her position. "I implore you to yield, Anora."
