My brother and I were out for a run to clear our heads after our beta Ian Thomas came in to inform us that the rogue attacks were getting more violent on our south boarders. As soon as he walked in I caught a faint smell of lilies and fresh rain. It was the most intoxicating smell. My brother and I looked at each other and immediately went to our beta and started smelling his shirt. It wasn’t him but he knew our mate. He’d hugged her. Who was she and why is my beta touching my f*****g mate.
“Who did you hug!”
I growled low using my alpha voice
“What are you talking about?”
“Who the f**k did you hug because you have my mates smell all over you”
“Oh s**t. That’s why she ran.”
“Who ran what the f**k are you talking about”
“ my little sister she just shifted last night and she got scared in the middle of our run and took off like something was chasing her. I hugged her this morning to make sure she was ok before coming to see you alpha”
My brother growled next to me
“WHERE IS OUR MATE.”
“She’s at home it’s her birthday”
My brother and I took off and shifted in record time running to our beta’s house. Everett growled in my ear pushing me to run faster to find out mate. When I smelled the lilies and fresh rain. There she was all white no other color but white. That didn’t make sense to me considering her hair is black as night. Usually your wolfs fur is based off of your human hair color but there she was pure as snow. Everett took over before I could stop him and he tackled her
“Mate”
The look of fear in her eyes hurt me like I couldn’t explain.
“Mate”
Everette growled again. I was so caught off by the look of how beautiful my mate was I didn’t have time to react when she pushed out from underneath me. She stood there staring at me like she’d seen a ghost when my brothers wolf Reese tackled her. f**k.
“Mate”
Reese growled at her and just as she had done to me she did to my brother. She pushed out from underneath him and stood staring at us for a second before she just bolted. s**t. I wasn’t expecting that. Usually when mates find each other they couldn’t keep there hands off each other and ended up locked away for days or weeks getting to know each other. But my mate looked terrified. She was fast but not as fast as my brother and I. But then she was super agile and right before we could reach her she would change directions like the wind or dive under a fallen tree. Just keeping out of our reach. Then out of no where she gained a little more distance. Be the time we reached the back door of her house she had already locked it. My brother tried to convince her to let us in but then.
“NO!”
She screamed and took off running through her house. She had locked her mates out and said no when we told her we were her mates. f**k. No one can prepare you for the pain when your mate runs away from you scared screaming no. My wood Everette whimpered already feeling the loss of her. We sat on the back porch refusing to leave until we could talk to her. Ian our beta came running up to us asking where his sister was. My brother and I just looked at each other and looked back at him
“Inside”
I said.
“Why are you both out here if your mate is inside?”
“Because she’s scared of us. She ran from us and locked us out and screamed no when we told her we were her mate.”
I said as I hung my head low in disappointment and sadness. I know we weren’t good to her per say but we weren’t aweful. It’s true my brother started calling her runt and it just stuck because of how little she was. Her brother pulled a key out from underneath a put by the door and walked in.
“Let me talk to her and calm her down. Stay down here I don’t want to upset her further.”
Even though my brother and I were the alphas now of our pack we listened to our beta because it was his little sister. We weren’t super close with our beta because we didn’t grow up with him but over the years of him helping out our dad and being the beta for our dad we formed a bond with him and a trust. This was the first test of trust between us as it was our mate we were dealing with. I still didn’t understand how she could run from us and lock us out and deny us. She didn’t outwardly deny the mate bond but screaming no at us after we said we were her mates was almost as bad. After about an hour of sitting downstairs our beta finally came back down the stairs. Hidden behind him was our little mate. She was gripping onto her brother like he was her lifeline. It hurt Everette and I to see her so terrified.
“Al will only talk to you alphas while I’m present. It’s the only way I could get her to come down and see you two.”
I made a move to get closer to her and she shrunk even further behind her brother. She was shaking like a leaf. f**k. I scared my mate. The look in her eyes was a mix of fear, anger, and curiosity.
“ please mate, talk to us. Let me touch you please.”
I had never begged or said please in my life. I never needed to I was an alpha but for her I would do anything. I finally felt my brother stand up and move next to me. He hadn’t said anything since she came down the stairs hiding behind her brother.
