Standing in that room with my father the whole world seemed to come crashing down. What was he about to tell me? That I was adopted I already knew that. He couldn't tell me I wasn't a wolf because I had my wolf. So what was he about to tell me? and why did he look so sad about it?
"first you have to understand. me and your mother were so happy when we found you." wait found me? what is he talking about? "you were so small and your skin was so rough. We didn't know what to do at first. We took you home and put you in a bath and your skin cleared right up. we were confused and asked the pack doctor. He said we had found a mermaid on our land but only a half mermaid. We weren't quite sure the other half until like every wolf you gained yours. We were so happy we didn't wanna make your life insane." He stood there looking at me trying to figure out if I was going to give him a reaction or not.
Truth is I wasn't sure how to react. my whole life I had believed I had this skin condition to where I had to have a special lotion to keep my skin clear. when in truth it was because I was a half mermaid.
"you are a real princess through and through but I'm afraid this girl might be the long lost princess. I'm not quite sure how or why but I plan on finding out." I nodded still unsure what to say or do. my father had lied my whole life. how was one supposed to take that? "say something please?" a request.
"I'm unsure what to say or do father." This man was still my father. The one who raised me from birth. "What do you mean found me?" I asked needing to know.
He sighed. "Way back when right before we found you the human kingdom decided to attack a mermaid pod outside of the protection line. There was nothing we could do. Me and your mother were walking along the beach when we noticed this small human in the sand. We figured you must have been from that pod but we stayed on that beach with you for about an hour before going to the pack doctor to make sure. Nobody came from the water to collect you." I could tell my father wasn't quite sure what else to say. both my parents were unknown and now my long lost sister is b ask with a vendetta against me.
"I understand. I just need some time." I said walking out of the room and to the beach. I was never allowed on the beach and I guess now I know why. I sighed and started walking towards the water when all of a sudden I smelt the most delicious scent.
"mate" my wolf said from within but I just couldn't deal with whoever it might have been. I ran into the ocean as quick as I could diving in once I was deep enough. I stayed down there for a minute before I could feel my legs start to fuse and I screamed out in pain. it was like my leg bones were merging together and my body was changing to. next thing I knew there were gills on my neck and I could breathe under the water. The pain stopped and I could no longer hear my wolf yelling mate at me. I took a breathe trying to get used to the gills.
Instead of going back up to deal with my mate I decided to go and try to find the pod I came from. my father had said it was outside the protection line. I figured maybe I could swim close to the line and maybe see some like fragments of the battle he was talking about. I wasn't sure how long I had been swimming for but eventually I saw the protection line. it was an actual barrier that stopped any human from entering our waters. past this was human territory, and they did not like us. Cautiously I swam forward and felt the tug of the barrier wanting to keep me in. We were allowed outside it just wanted to make sure that's what we wanted. I pushed again and out of the barrier I went.
Very cautiously I swam unsure of what tech they may have in detecting us. eventually I found a broken ship and I swam down to the bottom. There were mermaid corpses amongst human ones everywhere. This must have been what my father was talking about. I swam around almost on the verge of freaking out. what would happen if I was caught out here? I decided to swim back in a hurry and soon I found the barrier. Looking behind me I noticed a ship but they stopped short of the barrier. the tech they had must have been good if it found me that quick. I ended up deciding to swim back in the direction of home. The only home I knew where my mate was still standing on the beach apparently.
