**Chapter 11: First Meeting**

1222 Words
Manila's Ninoy Aquino International Airport buzzed with the usual cacophony of travelers hurrying to their destinations, the PA system announcing flights, and the hum of anticipation that pervaded the air. Among the throngs of people, Shenna stood near the arrivals gate, her heart racing in sync with the ticking clock. She had arrived early, eager to greet Chand as soon as he stepped through the gate. Shenna fidgeted with her dress, a light blue sundress she had chosen carefully, hoping it would make a good impression. Pilar's words echoed in her mind, giving her a sense of calm amidst her excitement. She scanned the crowd, her eyes searching for the familiar face she had only seen through the pixels of a video call. Finally, the announcement came: Chand's flight had landed. Shenna's heart skipped a beat. She took a deep breath, reminding herself to stay calm. The minutes felt like hours as passengers began to trickle out, reuniting with loved ones or heading towards their next adventure. And then, she saw him. Chand emerged from the gate, his eyes scanning the crowd with the same intensity. He looked just as he did in his pictures and on the screen, but more real, more tangible. Shenna’s breath caught in her throat as their eyes met across the distance. Chand’s face lit up with a broad smile the moment he saw her. He quickened his pace, weaving through the crowd until he stood just a few feet away. They both paused, taking in the reality of the moment, the culmination of weeks of anticipation and yearning. “Shenna,” Chand said, his voice soft and filled with awe. “You’re even more beautiful in person.” Shenna felt a rush of warmth spread through her. She stepped forward, closing the gap between them. “Chand, it’s so good to finally meet you,” she replied, her voice trembling with emotion. They stood there, gazing at each other, their smiles mirroring the joy in their hearts. Chand reached out and took Shenna’s hand, the simple touch sending a wave of electricity through both of them. It was as if time had slowed, and the noise of the airport faded into the background, leaving just the two of them in their own world. “Welcome to Manila,” Shenna said, her eyes shining with happiness. “I’m so glad you’re here.” “Thank you, Shenna,” Chand replied, squeezing her hand gently. “I’ve been looking forward to this moment for so long.” Shenna led Chand out of the arrivals area, their hands still entwined. They walked through the bustling terminal, the city waiting just beyond the doors. Chand took in the sights and sounds, the vibrant energy of Manila enveloping him. As they stepped outside, the warm tropical air greeted them. Shenna had arranged for a car to pick them up, and soon they were on their way to his hotel. The city whizzed past them, a blur of colors and motion. Chand watched with fascination, his senses alive with the newness of it all. “Manila is amazing,” Chand said, turning to Shenna. “I can’t wait to explore it with you.” “There’s so much I want to show you,” Shenna replied, her excitement matching his. “But first, let’s get you settled in at the hotel. You must be tired from the flight.” “Just a little,” Chand admitted, though the adrenaline of meeting Shenna had chased away most of his fatigue. “But I’m more excited than anything.” They arrived at the hotel, a charming boutique place Shenna had recommended. The staff greeted them warmly, and soon Chand was checked in and unpacking his bags in his room. Shenna waited in the lobby, giving him a moment to freshen up. When Chand rejoined her, he felt more at ease, the initial nerves of their meeting having settled. They decided to take a walk, eager to start their adventure together. The streets of Manila bustled with life, vendors selling their wares, children playing, and the aroma of street food wafting through the air. As they strolled through the city, they talked about everything and nothing, their conversation flowing easily. Chand marveled at the beauty of Manila, but more so at the woman walking beside him. Shenna pointed out landmarks, shared stories of her life, and laughed at his reactions to the new sights and sounds. “Let’s stop here,” Shenna said, leading him to a quaint café nestled on a quiet street. “This place has the best halo-halo in town.” They sat at a small table by the window, the afternoon sun casting a warm glow over them. Shenna ordered for both of them, her familiarity with the menu reassuring Chand. When the halo-halo arrived, a colorful concoction of shaved ice, sweetened beans, and tropical fruits, Chand’s eyes widened in delight. “This looks incredible,” Chand said, taking his first spoonful. The mix of flavors and textures was unlike anything he had tasted before. “You weren’t kidding. This is amazing.” Shenna laughed, her eyes sparkling. “I knew you’d like it. There’s so much more I want you to try.” They spent the rest of the afternoon exploring, the city becoming a backdrop to their growing connection. Each moment felt special, every shared smile and laugh reinforcing the bond they had built. As the sun began to set, casting a golden hue over Manila, Chand and Shenna found themselves at Manila Bay, watching the sky turn brilliant shades of orange and pink. “This is beautiful,” Chand said, his voice soft with awe. “But it pales in comparison to you.” Shenna blushed, her heart swelling with affection. “You always know what to say, Chand.” They stood there, side by side, watching the sun dip below the horizon. In that moment, everything felt right. The weeks of anticipation, the nervous energy of their first meeting, and the excitement of their new journey together culminated in a sense of peace and contentment. As the night enveloped them, Chand and Shenna walked back to the hotel, their hands entwined. The city lights glittered around them, a reflection of the joy and hope in their hearts. They talked about their plans for the next days, eager for the adventures ahead, but content in the knowledge that they were finally together. “Goodnight, Shenna,” Chand said, standing at the door of his hotel room. “Thank you for an amazing first day. I’m looking forward to tomorrow.” “Goodnight, Chand,” Shenna replied, her smile warm and genuine. “I am too. Sweet dreams.” As Chand closed the door, he couldn’t help but feel a sense of fulfillment and happiness. The journey had just begun, but already it felt like they had come so far. With Shenna by his side, he knew that the days ahead would be filled with love, laughter, and endless possibilities. And as Shenna walked away, her heart full and her spirit light, she felt the same. They had taken the first step in their journey, and it was everything she had hoped for and more. Together, they would navigate the path ahead, one moment, one memory at a time.
