Chand's office Chand sat in his expansive corner office, the floor-to-ceiling windows offering a panoramic view of Dubai’s glittering skyline. His desk, usually cluttered with documents and business plans, was uncharacteristically tidy today. He stared blankly at his computer screen, lost in thought. The betrayal by Maya and Vikram had left a void in his life that even his thriving business couldn’t fill. Raj, his childhood friend and trusted confidant, walked in with a determined look. He had been watching Chand struggle for years, and he was tired of seeing his friend in such pain. Raj approached Chand with a serious expression, saying, "Hey, Chand, we need to talk." He paused, waiting for Chand's attention. "It's important." Chand looked up, curiosity in his eyes. "What’s up, Raj?" Raj's tone was firm but compassionate as he said, "It’s about you, Chand." He sighed; concern etched on his face. "You’ve been wallowing in this pit of despair for too long." He placed a hand on Chand's shoulder. "It’s time to move on." Chand sighed, running a hand through his hair. Chand's voice was heavy with frustration as he replied, "Easier said than done, Raj." He rubbed his temples, the weight of the past weeks pressing down on him. "How do I just move on from that kind of betrayal?" His eyes reflected his inner turmoil. "Every time I try, the memories just come flooding back." Raj pulled up a chair and sat across from Chand, leaning forward with a serious expression. Raj's voice softened, filled with empathy, as he said, "I know it’s hard, man." He leaned in closer, trying to reach Chand. "But you can’t let Maya and Vikram control your life from afar." He paused, letting his words sink in. "You need to find happiness again, and sitting here in this office day after day isn’t going to do that for you." He looked at Chand earnestly. "You deserve better, and it’s time you started believing that." Chand sighed deeply and asked, "So what do you suggest? Therapy? A vacation?" He shook his head in frustration. "I’ve tried those. They didn’t help." Raj smiled slyly and pulled out his phone. Raj's eyes lit up with a new idea. "I have a different idea. There’s this new online dating app." He leaned forward, emphasizing his point. "It’s for people who are serious about finding love, not just hookups." Raj smiled, hopeful. "I’ve seen it work wonders for others." Chand frowned; his skepticism evident. "Online dating? You know I’m not into that kind of thing." He shook his head, feeling uncomfortable with the idea. "It feels so... impersonal." He looked at Raj, doubt in his eyes. Raj nodded, understanding Chand's hesitation. "I get it. But think about it." He leaned back, trying to be persuasive. "You’ve tried everything else. What’s the harm in giving this a shot?" He shrugged, offering a reassuring smile. "It’s not like you’re committing to anything. Just create a profile and see what happens." Chand leaned back in his chair, considering Raj’s suggestion. Chand sighed, uncertainty clouding his features. "I don’t know, Raj." He glanced away, feeling uneasy. "It feels a bit desperate; don’t you think?" Raj shook his head. Raj shook his head and said, "Not at all. It’s modern and practical." He gestured around the office and added, "And let’s be honest, you’re not exactly meeting eligible women here. You need to put yourself out there." Chand looked at Raj with concern. "And what if it doesn’t work?" he asked. "What if I end up even more disillusioned?" Raj's expression was earnest as he replied, "Then at least you tried." He leaned in, his eyes shining with optimism. "But what if it does work? What if you meet someone amazing who understands you and makes you happy?" He smiled, encouraging Chand to take a leap of faith. "Isn’t that worth the risk?" Chand sighed again, this time with a hint of resignation. Chand sighed, relenting a bit. "Fine. Let’s say I’m interested." He looked at Raj, curiosity creeping in. "How do we go about this?" Raj grinned, pulling out his laptop. Raj smiled, sensing progress. "First, we need to set up your profile," he said confidently. "I’ll help you with it." He pulled out his phone, ready to get started. Chand raised an eyebrow and asked, "You’re really serious about this, aren’t you?" He couldn't help but feel a mix of skepticism and curiosity. Raj nodded enthusiastically. "Absolutely. Now, let’s start with the basics." He opened the app and continued, "Name, age, location... you know the drill." Chand watched as Raj began typing on the cellphone. Chand took a deep breath, feeling the weight of the moment. "Okay, names easy. Chand Kapoor." He paused, reflecting on his age and the experiences that came with it. "Age... 38." He hesitated for a second, thinking about how that number might be perceived in the world of online dating. "Location... Dubai," he finally said, feeling a mix of hope and apprehension. "Let's see where this takes me." Raj smiled, pleased with the progress. "Great. Now, what about your interests?" he asked, tapping on his phone. "What do you want potential matches to know about you?" He looked at Chand expectantly, knowing this part was crucial. "Think about your hobbies, passions, and what makes you unique." Chand thought for a moment. Chand thought for a moment before replying. "I’m passionate about my business," he began, feeling a surge of pride. "I love traveling, exploring new cultures, and trying different cuisines." He smiled as he added, "I enjoy reading, especially about history and philosophy." He paused, considering what mattered most. "And... I’m looking for someone who is genuine and kind-hearted." Raj typed furiously, adding Chand’s details to the profile. Raj grinned, pleased with Chand's responses. "Perfect. Now, let’s add a few photos," he said, scrolling through Chand's gallery. "You’ve got some great ones from your travels. How about this one from your trip to Italy?" He pointed to a picture of Chand smiling in front of the Colosseum. Chand glanced at the photo Raj had pulled up – a candid shot of him smiling in front of the Colosseum. Chand nodded in agreement. "Yeah, that’s a good one. And maybe the one from the conference in Singapore?" He pointed to another photo in the gallery. Raj nodded, adding the selected photos. Raj smiled, almost done with the setup. "Alright, the profile is almost complete," he said, tapping away on his phone. "Now we just need a catchy headline. Something that captures who you are and what you're looking for." Chand pondered for a moment before suggesting, "How about... ‘Looking for a new beginning’?" He looked at Raj for feedback, unsure if it conveyed the right message. "Do you think it’s too vague, or does it sound okay?" Raj smiled approvingly. Raj grinned, satisfied with the profile. "Perfect. And we’re live," he said, tapping the final button. "Now we wait and see who bites." He leaned back, feeling optimistic about Chand's chances. Chand leaned back, feeling a mix of apprehension and anticipation. Raj grinned, satisfied with the profile. "Perfect. And we’re live," he said, tapping the final button. "Now we wait and see who bites." He leaned back, feeling optimistic about Chand's chances. Chand shook his head, a mix of anxiety and curiosity on his face. "I can’t believe I’m doing this," he muttered, half to himself. "I never imagined I'd be on a dating app." He glanced at Raj, seeking reassurance. Raj gave Chand a reassuring pat on the back. "Trust me, Chand, this is the first step towards a brighter future," he said with conviction. "You deserve to be happy, and you never know who might be out there waiting for you. Life has a funny way of surprising us when we least expect it." He paused, smiling at his friend. "Just keep an open mind and give it a chance." Chand sighed, a mixture of hope and doubt in his eyes. "I hope you’re right, Raj," he said quietly. "I’ve been through so much, and I just want to find some happiness again." He glanced at the screen, the new profile symbolizing a tentative step toward healing. Raj smiled confidently. "I know I am," he said. "Now, let’s get back to work and see where this new adventure takes you." As Raj left the office, Chand felt a flicker of hope for the first time in months. Maybe, just maybe, this unconventional step would lead him to the happiness he had long been searching for.
