Foretelling The Past?

1651 Words
Samuel was at loss for words at the moment. Imelda and Farah went forward, held Isabela's dainty hands and led her away from the conference hall and back to their Guild so that they would be able to converse with comfort. "So as Penelope was saying earlier, you seemed to dwell on the past and future. Isn't that true or maybe you would like to open up to us instead?" I probed Samuel since he was still twiddling with his fingers as he sat there and faced with the pioneers and us both. The pioneers looked at him with anticipation as they would very much like to hear of what's happening in the near future. "I can only tell you this, Your Majesty... You had suffered in the past but you were able to pull through with the help of the people that trusted you most." Samuel spread his hands over on the table and we all nodded in acknowledgement as for nearly a year ago, their beloved Prince had gone through a lot as a commoner and also hiding his identity to prevent any undesirable incidences. "But I could also tell you the future too..." Everyone perked up in their seats as we all leaned forward to listen to what Samuel had to say next. "The winter is coming... That's for sure in the future..." When I heard that I sprawled on the tabletop and stuck out my tongue... Who doesn't know that winter was just around the corner...! WHAT THE...!!! Everyone was like "..." when they heard the words that spewed out from Samuel's mouth. "Hahaha... This lad is sure a wily one. He dares to joke even he was not even a day over here Gracehaven. Good... Good... Good... I like this lad a lot..." Old Jack guffawed aloud when he heard the lad bit from Samuel and this broke the tension a bit. Everyone sighed to themselves when Samuel spoke of two incidences that had happened a while back which were recorded in the annals. =*= "Oh... That's true laddie. 7th July and 12th September of this year did mark a significant event in the annals. A layman would not be bothered to know the exact date and location of the events but somehow you seemed to know more on it. Does it come naturally to you, laddie?" Eagle knew about the annals recorded year after year and he tested it with Samuel and discovered that he was able to somehow foretell the future prior to certain important events a few days or a week before the event actually takes place! Samuel looked down on his twiddling fingers as he spoke, "I'm terribly sorry if you regard me as someone like a joke or a madman but these events would occur through me without me even realising it." "Besides, I was chased away from the two towns before when I 'prophesied' the events. The community disregarded me and told me that I was like a plague to them." "I have nowhere else to go but I could pick up skills along the way if you need me. I am tired of travelling around with no aim and direction and I sincerely hope that this is the last town I would step into and make good of myself." I nodded my head at both Ben and Frank and they understood my intention. "There... There... There's nothing to fret over this matters. Having you here is just another spare set of spoon and bowl. What's there to it?" "There's a lot of things that you can pick up along the way here. Besides, it's getting late, we would be showing you to your new home. By the way, both you and Isabela has not related anyway, right?" Ben raised the question and Samuel simply nodded his head and replied that she had joined him over at Knaresborough a few days back. Frank nodded at my direction as we concluded the conference of these two teens. "I would be quite busy again tomorrow to record down the profile for all 24 of the new inductees including the teens. I wonder... How is the situation over at the Guild when Imelda and Farah had kidn*pped the girl from us. Hahaha." Heather linked her arms around mine as we made our way in the chilly night towards the Guild where there was quite a commotion going on with gasps of surprises and claps of excitement. It was like the girls were having a slumber party over at their Guild tonight. Haha. =*= "Hey... What are you girls up to, eh? Why all the ruckus as if its someone's birthday today? Haha..." Heather peered her head into the Guild and saw chicken feathers floating in the air as if someone had just finished a pillow fight. On a long table stood a solitary red fowl and Imelda had just finished using a cleaver and chopped the wing off from it...! From the looks of her eyes, PETA would definitely storm the Guild to prevent mutilation and torture to the animals...! "My God... What are you doing, Imelda...?!" I screamed at the top of my voice as I saw the cleaver was brought down on the chicken's wing and blood spurted out and stained some part of the wall. The poor chicken was clucking and thrashing about in Imelda's hands as Farah held the mutilated wing towards me. "Your Majesty... Watch this...!" I flinched when I saw the gore before me but then the new witch or priestess as they were all known to be, held the mutilated wing and somehow placed it next to the chicken that Imelda had chopped from. Isabela placed her two palms over the mutilated part of the chicken's wing and to the surprise of both Heather and me, a soft glow emanated from her palms and the chicken somehow quietened down. A few moments later... "Hahaha...see Your Majesty... Magic...! The chicken is as good as new except for some blood loss...! Hahaha... See? Our new sister Isabela here is a healer and able to join back mutilated parts or limbs. Hahaha. Isn't that wonderful?!" Imelda was literally shrieking with joy as she held the chicken up as it bounded and flapped its wing as if the incident earlier did not happen at all. But from the look of the chicken's mournful eyes, it was simply asking for release from its captors...! "Your Majesty, as explained by Isabela, if livestock or a human loses its head, then it could never be attached again because the body had lost its soul permanently." "What resulted would be a walking dead. An empty husk without a soul. Something like a necromancer would do to raise the dead." Penelope explained but I was intrigued. "So... Isabela is a healer or a necromancer? Which is which? Is she good or evil from your perspective point of view...?" "Of course she's a good person. Look at her... She's not even 13 years old and just because she was able to heal a bird that crashes on her window one morning she was labelled as an evil witch." "Besides, she would be the best candidate to work in the infirmary as of now with the guidance with several of the herbalist and Old Kayla." I rubbed my chin and pondered for a little while. I then remembered Firestone... He had an amputated leg when his poor leg was run over during one of the mining accident back at his hometown. I looked at Heather and glanced back at Farah and she seemed to understand my gaze when I looked at her and then back at the chicken. "Isabela... If someone loses his limbs totally, do you think you could somehow do something about it? I mean would there be a high chance for the person to grow back his arm or foot, fingers and toes?" Isabela peered deep into my face as Farah was also hoping for the most desirable answer she could hear. Isabela opened up her lips and informed those listening intently, "It's quite difficult but it's not impossible. I haven't tried it on a human before especially those who had missing limbs but I could always try it on this chicken, anyways..." The chicken turned its head the moment it was answered and violently flapped it's wings and tried to claw its way out while it violently squawked on top of its little voice. "We can try on this chicken but let it run free for a couple of days. It's already late... So who's going to bring Isabela to her new home or she going to share with any of the girls?" I suggested as Imelda and Farah raised their arms at me and exclaimed in unison that Isabela is going to be sticking with them from that day forth. Farah released the chicken and it ran as fast as its short legs could carry its body as it made its way to the enclosure and flew right over the railings and into its barn house. "Well... We could just let it rest for some time before we began our experiment then." I concluded and everyone streamed out from the crampy Guild that happened to be an extension of Old Jack's blacksmith and all went merrily back to their homes. I checked with Ben and was told that Samuel had already curled up in the new house that was allocated for him. It seemed he was dead tired after all the travels and all the matters that he had faced alone. The matters over at the Priestess' side was total opposite as there were chatters and light laughter from where the three girls were housed in. A little while later, the three girls left the house and heads to Gracehaven's Greasy Spoon where the three dined on Crispy flatbread and chilled ale.
