*SWOOOSH*
The arrow that was nocked earlier by Gwen was released towards a target that was set up on the stump of a tree. It was a bronze helm and inside it was a squash that was taken from my poor vegetable garden. The target that was placed on the tree stump depicts a person on a low kneel.
The arrow was a special once. It was fitted with a blunt end but adjoined with another part of an arrow with some fillings of gunpowder in it. The whole concept is not to m**m fully armoured personnel but the idea was to concuss the person with the newly developed arrow.
A normal arrowhead would not do the job but with Andy's implementation, it would be able to bring a turnabout during the war. Not only would it be able to concuss or stun the target, but it would also most probably deal more damage rather than a single arrowhead against a soft target.
*BOOOOM*
The explosion that ensued was neither soft or too intimidating but it was fairly right for a small projectile that was shaped like an arrowhead. Everyone had their hands over their ears except for Gwen as she was the main archer for that morning.
The projectile hit the bronze helm squarely on its hard surface but the next moment it was rather shocking as no one expected the aftermath. The impact delivered a powerful punch on the helm and the squash... Well... It was totally squashed alright...!
Andy went forward and picked the helm that was blasted from the tree stump and rolled on the ground a few times due to the impact. The contents of the squash were literally squashed and were dripping from the insides of the helm.
A huge indentation could be seen when Andy brought the bronze helm for closer inspection. The Shadows were intrigued and this piqued their interest to have their hands on these concussion arrowheads.
"As you can see, a direct hit on an armoured Knight at 100 paces would result with his brain within his skull to simply disintegrate due to the impact of this concussion arrowheads."
"If an arrowhead were to land on his chest, his heart would stop pumping and his lungs would have a similar impact like this squash. The only thing is to avoid a glancing shot as it would not have a 100% effectiveness. I would not make other designs for the tip because any other designs may affect its flight and trajectory."
"Would there be any questions?" Andy cleared his throat as he finished explaining the mechanics of the concussion arrow that he wished to implement. Furthermore, with Michael as his backing, he would be able to churn out numerous arrowheads within a day.
"If the concussion arrowhead hits a limb, let's say a knee, would it be decapitated as well?" asked a Shadow member as he raised his arm to raise the question.
"If its a front shot, it would definitely be blown away. A head protected by a helm is a tough nut to c***k. However, if you shoot off at the knee, the impact of its damage would be amplified and multiplied. I would say yes, you might decapitate his knee."
"That's super great, Andy. The only disadvantage was that the arrow must be inlined with the target to avoid glancing. Hmm, could we request like a dozen of these concussion arrowheads along with the bullet point ones?"
"I would be making them into batches and I think it shouldn't be a problem if I slowly roll them out. The concussion arrowheads would be fully loaded with gunpowder and the percussion mechanism so don't drop it point first on the ground. I wouldn't dare to imagine if one were to drop on your very own foot."
"Besides, I might be implementing those incendiary ones too, the one with the fuel sacs on it with similar arrowheads. It does not need lighting up so it would be a surprise attack on the enemies."
"The idea would come first before I make a few samples. Would that be alright, Your Majesty?"
"Uh... That's all right, laddie. Your implementation had done a great deal of promise for our men at arms. I would like to see the roll-out of these concussion arrowheads within this few weeks along with the incendiary sacs too."
I nodded my head approvingly after I had seen the demonstration and the effect was to stop an enemy right in its track. After some time of exchanging queries, all of us broke free and went about our daily businesses.
"Your Majesty, I had arranged Old Jack and myself to head to Boroughbridge to gather the inductees later on before lunch. We all would be back for lunch and then we can discuss further before inducting them into our circle."
Eagle motioned to me and I agreed at his ideal suggestion. Furthermore, it's high time for the residents of Boroughbridge to be inducted since that own had long been dead and scarcely surviving with just a handful of invalids and senior citizens.

Meanwhile, back in Boroughbridge, the citizens that had congregated much earlier had all agreed in a single vote of confidence that they would be starting their lives anew in a town called Gracehaven.
Bundles of possessions lined at the disused space of the tavern as the citizens had their last breakfast together at the outdoor seating areas. The desolate houses were locked down secure with sturdy timber, allowing no access to future looters and perpetrators.
Besides, with Old Mann leading them towards their new homes and risen hopes of survivability, the thought of new faces and names, as well as neighbours and friends, enticed them to a new level.
"Heh... Here they come. Come on ex citizens of Boroughbridge, its time to head for new pastures as new future awaits us. We would soon carve our future with the new town no matter what...!"
Old Mann was excited as the rest of the residents as he raised his fist and pumped it in the air. It had been a long time since he felt this way. A sense of belonging and a sense of usefulness, not like some old pair of socks the was long forgotten.
Both Old Jack and Eagle traversed the 2 wagons along the path so that it faces the direction where they had came from. They disembarked and greeted Old Mann and the rest of the community and helped them to load their personal effects on the wagon.
It didn't take long before everyone got on board as they took a last glance at their old hometown that they had been living in for nearly their whole life.
The senior citizens would be able to help around the town whenever they wished but they put some worry for the militia invalids. With permanent injuries to their heads, arms or legs, the militia invalids were worried that they would be a liability for the general public.
Sensing the worrisome looks from the militia invalids, Eagle gave an assuring statement, "You won't be a liability to others but you are to make full use of this opportunity to be liable for your own self. Once a soldier, always a soldier. We never leave our men behind."
Eagle gave a thumbs up at the militia invalids and saw their faces lit up as smiles beamed across their faces.
