As speculated by Isabela as noted inside the patient's case file, the recovery for the militia invalid that had their head injuries checked out were healed and the bandages were removed permanently.
No scars or any signs of old injuries were left on the two militiamen (can't be called invalids since they were now fit for fighting) and the ailments that they had complained earlier due to their injuries were also being totally cured.
The militiamen do not have any vertigo nor have any signs of blacking out. They were got to do burpees and there were no complaints of a sudden rush of blood to their heads anymore.
"Thank you so much, Missy (a term where they used to call nurses back then) for getting us back as healthy as before we got those injuries that we can say was that we are now fitter than before."
The militiamen thanked Isabela, Old Kayla, Old Mann and the rest of us profusely as they were already been properly cured of their injuries.
"So what would you be doing right after this? It had been some time you were out of action and our garrison sure needs a few more veterans to lead us. What do you say, guys?" Old Mann was hinting to Hugh and Gary and both nodded their heads as they looked at each other in apprehension.
Both went down on one knee, clasps their fist over their chest and then lowered their heads as they pronounce their allegiance to fight and defend Gracehaven of its people and property.
"For The Majesty, the King and the Queen..." both of them pronounced their allegiance before us before I got them to stand on their feet.
"I accept and now both of you would be under Old Mann's and Eagle's directive. Any issues, please refer to them. You are now our subjects and also a part of our military force."
Heather had her handbook where she had the records of the militiamen and noted down the two extra names that would be joining the ranks of the archers, swordsmen and pikemen.
"So Isabela, what's your next move then? There are another 6 more invalids and once you had completed these 6, there would be more invalids from the 15 towns that we had been servicing to come over here in batches."
"We hadn't spread the news to them yet but would make do once you had successfully helped them to regain back their original health as before."
Isabela was slightly flushed due to her strain on handling these 2 recent cases and sat on an empty bed and suggested, "Your Majesty, could I request for a day's rest? At least I would be able to recuperate and then continue on the 6. I would be able to handle them on intervals so that they would be able to be cured a few days within each other."
I snapped my fingers and recommended for 2 days rest before commencing on the next 6 patients. Old Kayla took note of it along with Michelle as Isabela let out a long sigh of relief for being able to take a break for 2 days straight. At least, she would be able to muster back her energy and plan with the other 6 when they arrived in 3 days time.
"Thank you, Your Majesty. I really appreciate your kind thoughts. I would take a break and continue my work thereafter with more tenacity."
Isabela bowed slightly to me and she just plopped down on the bed she sat down without unceremoniously. We all looked at each other and someone motioned towards the exit and we all sauntered out silently.
"She's still young but she has still a long way to go before her abilities could be on par with the rest of the sisters."
"She's only like 13 but she is able to perform her abilities and to do the most unthinkable. We need to protect the interest of our Priest and Priestesses in order to ensure their safety security and well being."
"That's right, the other 8 Priests and Priestesses have their own part and role to play in our development here in Gracehaven. If not for Imelda, we won't have Standing Icebox for sale, a cold storage barn to keep our fruits vegetables and meat plus the Gracehaven's Greasy Spoon won't have chilled ale too... "
"Yeah, her good friend Farah too was able to be of great help in the pita for the night soil, the grains drying kiln, the hand warmers as well as the steady regulated water inside the vats of our privy."
"True, true... Earl was able to design the underground sewage system under the privy, Walter was able to make the groundwater rise to supply endless water to the vats in our privy and Wendy is helping the engineers to move the timber towards the sawmill effortlessly."
"Every single one of them does play a part, no matter how big or small it is. And if you were to be with us since the very beginning, we were basically like Irish Travellers and sleeping under the stars near the riverbank."
I reminded the rest who were returning back to the domain about the experiences we all had when we made this place as a settlement. Fortunately, the coins that were stashed back in the Manor in Darlington were undiscovered and Eagle managed to bring it back to me to use it as a capital for the economy to roll.
If not for the trained men and women that travelled along with me that time, I think this would not even happen. I would be still scavenging the bushes for berries and such and even if a cane sugar was in front of me, I would not be able to recognise it as food.
Luckily Old Kayla was able to make use of the humble reeds and cattails that grew abundantly along the riverbanks.
I sighed inwardly as I held Heather's hand as we walked back as the ones that followed us from the infirmary were discussing the time back then and discovered that it's almost a year since the pioneers and I had arrived here in Gracehaven.
I turned in the courtyard and to the first bridge that we had built across the river and found the signboard that I had made before when I had christened the settlement was still left standing at the entrance from the residential lots.
I went there and touched the signboard as I remembered the day when I put it up. A smile slowly crept up my face as I straightened the signboard.
"Dear, do you intend to take it down or refurbish it to make it look brand new again?"
Heather had her arm wrapped around my waist because I can't do it on hers with her bulging tummy in her way.
"Nah... We just leave it here. Besides, every day when anyone passes through here, they would realise that before all this, this signboard here was all there is to the entrance of Gracehaven."
I spread my hands out and those who followed me nodded their heads and felt nostalgic because close to a year back from nothing we now have 45 crop fields and 300 homes on the residential lots.
"Yes, indeed my childe...we do have come a long way from home to make this place as our very own. If not for you, Your Majesty, nothing is impossible. Coins do make the sound decision whether a small settlement back then would flourish or not."
Old Kayla went up to me and patted me on the shoulders as I looked into her wrinkly face that they longed to have a child of their own and have been secretly treating me like their own son.
I smiled and managed to mouth the words of 'Thank you' as I was also choked up with my own emotions.

From the world of ups and downs, there emerged a teenager by the name of Audemars Macleod that was able to rule a populace of nearly 500 with a 'guy next door' kind of attitude where everyone wouldn't mind sharing a mug of ale with any time of the day...!
