Chapter One: The Unknown Gateway 1

683 Words
The lights sparkled in the night sky of New Orleans, glowing with vibrant colors from the fireworks that celebrated the Spring Festival. People from all over gathered, laughing and celebrating, as the lights reflected on the calm waters of the Mississippi River. But amidst this lively celebration, there was one person who had no reason to rejoice. Alexander Kane, a twenty-year-old young man, wandered alone among the crowd, carrying a deep sense of loneliness in his heart. Though he looked like any other young man — tall, with dark brown hair and blue eyes that mirrored the sky — he constantly struggled with self-confidence. To him, the world around felt like a surreal movie, as if he were just an extra in a story beyond his control. Despite his longing to belong, he never seemed to connect with others. In school, he was labeled “the weakest” by his peers, and he had no close friends. His only true passion was gaming, where he could feel powerful and in control, though he knew it was merely an escape from his harsh reality. As he strolled through the bustling streets, he noticed a narrow alleyway leading away from the bright lights. Something about it pulled him in. The alley was dark and cold, filled with the smell of dampness and decay. At the end of the alley stood a massive wrought-iron gate, adorned with strange shapes and ancient symbols. He paused, transfixed by the gate’s beauty, feeling something odd drawing him closer. Hesitating, he took a step toward it. The symbols on the gate seemed to shift in the dim light, almost as if they were alive and beckoning him. He muttered to himself, "Maybe it's just decoration... or maybe... something else." He reached out and touched the gate. In that instant, a flash of light burst unexpectedly, and the ground beneath him trembled. He felt a strange energy surge through his veins, a sensation like nothing he had ever known. But before he could comprehend what was happening, the gate swung open with a mighty creak, and a blinding light engulfed him completely. He felt himself being pulled inside, as though the entire world had vanished around him. There was fear, but also a strange sense of freedom deep in his heart. As he crossed through the gateway, he realized he had stepped into an entirely different realm. The Realm of Legends When Alexander regained his balance on solid ground, he found himself in a vast plain filled with vibrant, otherworldly flowers, surrounded by towering mountains under a sky scattered with stars. The air here was crisp, infused with unfamiliar scents that were both strange and intoxicating. Yet, what struck him the most was the unsettling silence. Suddenly, a deep roar echoed in the distance, seeming to come from the heart of the mountains. Alexander realized he was not alone. He could hear shouts and the sounds of clashing weapons growing closer. In the distance, he could make out figures moving, fierce and terrifying. Huge, monstrous beasts with glistening eyes clashed with beings that resembled humans but possessed wings and mythical traits. He stood in awe, astonished by the scene, but felt a spark of courage ignite within him. He was witnessing an epic battle between worlds, and he was certain he was in a place beyond anything he had ever imagined. At that moment, he felt something awaken inside him — a potential he never knew he had. Before he could make sense of his next move, one of the massive creatures exploded nearby and turned its gaze toward him, charging forward with a deep, blood-curdling roar. "Run!" his instincts screamed, but before he could flee, he felt an invisible force drawing him toward the confrontation. He had only one choice: either run or stand his ground and face the creature, to discover what it truly meant to be powerful. With a reckless resolve, Alexander took a step toward the approaching beast, his heart pounding with a mixture of fear and excitement. This was the moment his real adventure would begin.
