The week was crazy, filled with running errands and helping my cousin plan her wedding. It was to be a backyard wedding held in her parents’ yard. Their grass was always really green and had a view of the ocean. I thought it was romantic. Mariah and I were hanging yellow string lights when my phone began to ring in my pocket. “Ooooh!” Mariah cooed. “Must be the fiance!” I rolled my eyes, getting down off the ladder and pulling my phone out of my back pocket. It was, in fact, Jacob. I smiled, answering it quickly. “Hello?” I walked out the back gate away from the ears of others. “Hello, beautiful,” Jacob said, and I could hear his smile. “How are you?” “Missing you,” I answered playfully. “How’s work going? You’re off today, right? Since it’s Saturday and all?”
