“Thank you for visiting us, Ma’am. How many guests are with you tonight? One or two,” she asked with an eager smile that exposed her pearly white dentures? “Yes. I’m here for a reservation for two. Achim Jeffers. 8 PM.” The white lady looked down at a small note pad and shook her head before grabbing two menus. “Follow me please and I’ll get you seated, Ma’am.” I took my seat and ordered a glass of ice water.
