Chapter Six The smell of the fresh coffee was strong. Its scent was dominated by a unique boldness, which hid a hint of Caribbean spice. A piercing noise from the bean processor sent shock waves ricocheting throughout the entire building and briefly startled me. The interior of the coffee shop was painted with an extravagant, yet comforting revision of yellow. Patient customers eagerly stood in line, each awaiting their opportunity to pay for their favorite brand of liquid comfort. All of them trapping themselves in their own private little world as they stood alone, waiting for their fix.
