Bailey The door crashed open and Hallowell was standing there, staring at us. My heart jumped into my throat as Welwyn and I stood transfixed, held in place by the unreadable mask that was his face and the dominating and commanding aura that surrounded him. His eyes flickered to Welywn’s hands on my face as he took in our position. I could only imagine the picture we painted. Before either one of us could speak, he turned and just as quickly as he had appeared, he was gone. I felt my stomach tie into several knots as my heart twisted painfully in my chest. What was going through his head? What could be forcing him away? How long would he continue to run away? Was I not enough reason for him to want to stay? The questions swirled in my head like the crackling of a storm…a very bad one
