HALLOWELL I stood outside the door to Welwyn's room, nursing my nose. I decided knocking again wouldn't be a good idea. It was best I left for now and tried again. It was so obvious that Welwyn was pissed off, I couldn’t blame him. I could not explain the uneasy feeling of worry that hung over me as a cloud as I waited for him to return with Bailey. I had paced around in my office from the time Welwyn left. I only got to know of his return from the nurse I asked to be on the lookout and inform me when Welwyn returned. Even though Welwyn had not allowed me to see her, I had caught a glimpse of her lying helplessly on the bed. She probably looked better now than when they had returned to the pack. I could not imagine how much of a hard time she must have had alone in the woods. What
