Dad cursed the entire drive home, and the moment we got there, he started ranting to Mom. After piecing together what had happened, Mom turned to me with concern in her eyes. “Nannan, how did things get this bad between you two? It sounds like you ghosted him, and now he’s turned obsessive.” Looking at their worried faces, I realized I could no longer keep it to myself. So I told them everything—from the moment I walked in on Charlotte in Tom’s studio. Their expressions went from smiles to stone. When I told them how he used my body as a reference for a sculpture he displayed publicly, my dad slammed the table in fury. He injured his hand. Mom’s face turned darker than I’d ever seen it. After hearing everything, they exchanged a look. Then my mother held my hand tightly. “Baby,” she said slowly, “Leave it to us. We won’t let you suffer such a huge loss in silence.” I hugged them both and whispered, “It’s okay, Mom, Dad. That chapter of my life is over.” Seeing Tom again today, whatever traces of affection I had left for him were finally gone.
