As the days went by, Avni and Aayush's dedication to their goal only intensified. Their days were filled with focused lessons, and their evenings were spent reviewing and refining their strategies. Aayush's admiration for Avni grew with each passing day, as he marveled at her unwavering commitment to his success. Her selflessness and determination inspired him to work harder, and he found himself falling deeper under her spell. Avni, too, couldn't help but feel a growing sense of respect and admiration for Aayush. The way he treated her with kindness and respect, always listening to her and valuing her opinion, touched her heart. She felt seen and heard, and her appreciation for him grew with each passing day. But amidst their focused efforts, a malicious rumor began to spread like wildfire. People started whispering that Avni was dating Aayush for his money, that she was the kind of girl who would sell her body for wealth and status. The rumors were vicious and unfounded, but they spread quickly, fueled by the malicious gossip of those who didn't know the truth. Avni and Aayush, oblivious to the rumors, continued to work together, their bond growing stronger with each passing day. The crisp winter morning air carried a sense of calm as Avni stepped out of her home, wrapped in a cozy kurti, pants, dupatta and a warm sweater. Her bright smile illuminated the morning as she made her way to the bus stop, a container filled with a nutritious food packet for Aayush in her hands. Aayush, already waiting at the bus stop, looked tense, his eyes fixed on his books as he reviewed his notes one last time before the exam. But as Avni approached him, her warm smile and gentle demeanor immediately put him at ease. For a moment, he forgot about the looming exam, and his face relaxed into a soft smile. "Good morning," Avni said, her voice like a soothing balm to Aayush's frazzled nerves. Aayush's eyes locked onto hers, and he felt a surge of gratitude towards her. "Good morning," he replied, his voice a little softer than usual. Avni's eyes sparkled with encouragement "All the best, and don't be tense. You've studied well," she said, her words infused with conviction. As the bus arrived, they both managed to squeeze in and find a seat. Aayush's eyes remained buried in his books, his glasses perched on the end of his nose as he scanned the pages one last time. Avni sat beside him, her eyes occasionally glancing over at him, her expression a mix of concern and reassurance. As they reached their usual stop, Saurabh appeared, his bright smile a welcome respite from the morning's tension. "Good morning, Avni!" he exclaimed, his eyes twinkling with friendliness. Avni smiled back at him, handing over the container. "Good morning, Saurabh. Here, take this for Aayush." Saurabh's eyes lit up with excitement. "Avni, can you also teach us? Me, Rahul, Sushant, and Payal? We could really use your help," he asked, his voice filled with hope. Avni's smile grew wider. "Why not? I'd be happy to help," she said, her eyes sparkling with enthusiasm. As Saurabh and Aayush prepared to disembark, Avni turned to Saurabh with a concerned expression. "Take care of him, he's too stressed," she said, her voice low and urgent. Saurabh chuckled reassuringly. "Don't worry, I'll take care of him. He's always like this before exams, but he always manages to pull through," he said, his eyes crinkling at the corners. Avni smiled, feeling a sense of relief wash over her. "All the best to you both, once again," she said, her voice filled with warmth. As she stepped to go, Avni caught Aayush's eye, and he looked back at her, his expression worried. But Avni reassured him with a gentle blink of her eyes, and he smiled back, feeling a sense of calm wash over him. Avni's mind was preoccupied with thoughts of Aayush, her concern for him palpable. She wasn't worried about his exam results, for she knew he was well-prepared. Instead, her anxiety stemmed from the stress he had been under, the weight of his father's expectations bearing down on him like a physical burden. As she went about her day, Avni's usual efficiency and focus were slightly off-kilter, her mind wandering back to Aayush at every opportunity. Her boss, however, remained oblivious to her distraction, for Avni's work was, as always, impeccable. Her tardiness was the only complaint he had, but even that was a minor quibble. As the day drew to a close, Avni gathered her belongings, her movements swift and purposeful. She didn't linger to chat with her colleagues, her mind already racing ahead to Aayush. The crowded train and bus were mere obstacles to be navigated, Avni's determination to reach Aayush's house as soon as possible driving her forward. As she alighted from the bus, Avni's feet seemed to move of their own accord, carrying her swiftly towards Aayush's house. Her heart was racing, her mind filled with visions of Aayush, stressed and anxious. She quickened her pace, her breath coming in short gasps as she burst through the gate and ran towards the house, her concern for Aayush spurring her on. As Avni entered the house, she was met with an eerie silence. She hastened to Aayush's room, her heart racing with concern. As she pushed open the door, she was relieved to see Aayush sitting on the bed, but her relief was short-lived. Aayush's eyes looked sunken, his face pale, and his body shaking with cold. Avni's eyes widened in alarm as she rushed towards him. "What happened, Aayush?" she asked, her voice laced with worry. Aayush looked up, startled, and then stood up, his movements slow and labored. "Sorry, I didn't notice you," he said, his voice weak. Avni's hands instinctively went to his forehead, and she felt a surge of concern as she realized he was burning with fever. "You're having a fever, Aayush. Sit down," she said, her voice firm but gentle. Aayush sat down, still shaking, and Avni's anger began to simmer. "Oh, Aayush, why do you take so much stress?" she asked, her voice tinged with frustration. Aayush looked up at her, his eyes apologetic. "I'm sorry, Avni. I just didn't want to disappoint my father." Avni's expression softened, and she asked, "Did you take any medicine?" Aayush shook his head. "No." Avni's anger flared up again. "Did you eat something?" Aayush nodded. "In the afternoon." Avni's eyes flashed with indignation. "Then what were you doing? And where were the servants?" Aayush looked scared, and he tried to placate her. "Calm down, Avni. It's just a fever." Avni's voice rose in anger. "Just a fever? You're shaking like a leaf, and you're reassuring me it's just a fever?" Avni strode purposefully to the drawer where Aayush kept his medicines, her movements swift and efficient. She retrieved the necessary medication and handed it to Aayush, along with a glass of water. "Take it, and I'll make you something to eat," she said, her voice firm but gentle. Aayush began to protest, "Avni, it's not necessary..." but Avni wouldn't let him finish. She interrupted him, her voice taking on a slightly stern tone. "Keep quiet and just rest. You need to take care of yourself." Aayush's eyes widened slightly, and he looked taken aback by Avni's firmness. But he didn't argue further, instead, he lay down on the bed, his body relaxing into the softness of the mattress. Despite his initial hesitation, he couldn't help but feel a sense of relief wash over him as Avni took charge of his care. As Avni busied herself in the kitchen, Aayush watched her with a mixture of gratitude and concern. He was happy to see Avni taking care of him, but he didn't want to give her more trouble. She had already had a long day at work, and now she was taking care of him. He felt a pang of guilt for being a burden to her, but as he looked at her, he saw only kindness and concern in her eyes. Avni navigated Aayush's kitchen with a sense of determination, her eyes scanning the unfamiliar space for the necessary ingredients and utensils. She moved with a quiet confidence, her hands moving swiftly and surely as she gathered what she needed. The aroma of cooking khichdi soon filled the air, a comforting scent that seemed to envelop the entire house. As the khichdi cooked, Avni turned her attention to Aayush, who lay on his bed, his eyes closed in exhaustion. She filled a bowl with cold water and grabbed a clean cloth, her movements gentle and soothing. She dipped the cloth in the water, wrung it out, and placed it on Aayush's forehead, the coolness of the cloth a welcome respite from the fever that raged within him. Avni's eyes watched over Aayush, her gaze tender and concerned. She smoothed out his hair, her fingers gentle as she moved them through his tangled locks. Her touch was soothing, calming, and Aayush's eyes fluttered open, his gaze meeting Avni's. For a moment, they just looked at each other, the only sound the gentle simmer of the khichdi on the stove. Avni's hand lingered on Aayush's hair, her fingers brushing against his scalp. It was a gentle, intimate touch, one that spoke of a deep connection between them. And as Avni finally withdrew her hand, Aayush's eyes drifted closed once more, a soft sigh escaping his lips. Avni returned to the kitchen, her movements swift and purposeful. She grabbed a plate and scooped a generous portion of steaming hot khichdi onto it. As she walked back to Aayush's room, the aroma of the khichdi wafted through the air, tantalizing his senses. Aayush slowly sat up, his movements labored, as Avni approached him. "Aayush, have something," she said, her voice gentle but insistent. Aayush leaned back against the bed, his eyes fixed on Avni as she sat beside him. She took a spoonful of khichdi and blew on it gently, cooling it down before offering it to Aayush. He was taken aback by the tender gesture, his heart swelling with emotion. "Avni, it was really not necessary," Aayush protested, his voice weak but sincere. Avni's expression was stern, but her eyes betrayed a deep concern for Aayush's well-being. "Keep quiet, Aayush. You don't have the energy to argue," she said, her voice firm but gentle. Aayush's eyes met Avni's, and he felt a jolt of electricity run through his body. He was shocked when Avni took a bit of khichdi in her hands and said, "Open your mouth." Aayush's eyes widened in surprise, but he couldn't deny the tender gesture. He opened his mouth, and Avni gently fed him the khichdi, blowing on it to cool it down. As Avni continued to feed him, Aayush's eyes locked onto hers, his heart overflowing with gratitude and affection. He felt a deep connection to Avni, a sense of trust and reliance that he had never felt before. And as he looked into her eyes, he knew that he would never be able to repay her for the kindness and care she had shown him. As the evening drew to a close, Aayush's eyes grew heavy, and he drifted off to sleep, a soft "thank you" escaping his lips as he settled into a peaceful slumber. Avni smiled warmly, her eyes filled with concern and care for the young man who had captured her heart. "Sleep now," she whispered, her voice barely audible over the sound of Aayush's gentle breathing. As Avni tidied up the kitchen, her mind wandered to Aayush's father, wondering what he would think if he saw the state of the kitchen. She quickly cleaned up, her movements swift and efficient, before making her way back to Aayush's room to check on him. As she entered the room, she was met with the sight of Aayush, fast asleep, his chest rising and falling with each gentle breath. Avni's heart swelled with emotion as she gazed at him, her fingers instinctively reaching out to brush a stray lock of hair from his forehead. She covered him well, ensuring he wouldn't feel the chill of the night air. Just as Avni was about to leave, she heard the sound of footsteps approaching. Aayush's father appeared in the doorway, his eyes scanning the room before coming to rest on Avni. "Hello, sir," Avni greeted him, her voice polite but wary. Aayush's father nodded curtly, his eyes lingering on Avni before moving to Aayush, who lay sleeping peacefully. "He's asleep, sir. He had a fever today," Avni explained, her voice calm and even. Aayush's father grunted, seemingly satisfied with Avni's explanation. But as Avni turned to leave, he moved to block her path, his eyes glinting with a sinister intent. Avni's heart skipped a beat as she realized his intentions, and she quickly moved to sidestep him. But Aayush's father was relentless, his hands reaching out to grab her. Avni dodged beneath his arms, her voice firm and resolute. "Sorry, sir, but I'm not that type of girl," she said, her eyes flashing with indignation. Aayush's father sneered, his face twisted in a cruel smile. "We'll see about that," he muttered, his eyes glinting with malice. Avni didn't wait to hear more. She quickly turned and fled the house, her heart pounding in her chest. As she emerged into the cool night air, she felt a sense of relief wash over her, but she knew she couldn't shake off the feeling of unease that lingered within her. Avni stepped into her home, the door closing behind her with a soft click. She took a deep breath, the tension in her body slowly beginning to dissipate. But the unease lingered, her mind replaying the unsettling encounter with Aayush's father. She sank onto the sofa, her hands rising to her forehead as if to physically push away the thoughts that swirled in her mind. Her eyes closed, and she took another deep breath, trying to calm the storm that raged within her. But it was Aayush's face that came to mind, his gentle eyes and soft smile a stark contrast to the cruel intentions of his father. Avni's heart went out to him, and she knew she had to be strong for him. She couldn't let the likes of Aayush's father get to her, not when Aayush needed her. With a newfound determination, Avni opened her eyes, her gaze steady and resolute. She took another deep breath, this time feeling a sense of calm wash over her. She could handle this, she told herself. She could handle whatever nonsense Aayush's father threw her way, as long as it meant keeping Aayush safe.
