9th November, 1888Albert Norris emerged from cell number four an hour after making his entrance. Ted Drago, knowing the game was up, had eventually confessed to a number of lesser, petty crimes, almost out of sheer bravado, but, when faced with the prospect of a swift trial and the almost inevitable hanging that would follow soon afterwards, all sense of bluster eventually deserted him. The murder of a police officer in the execution of his duty was regarded as one of the most heinous of crimes, and the likelihood of a life sentence, as opposed to the death penalty, was extremely unlikely in his case, as Norris took great pains to point out to the man.
