"Doura run!" A panicked voice sounded. The pitter patter of the rain sounded all around the thunder rumbling only adding a painful ambience as the smoke clouds gathered and the gunshots rang closer. The screams of agony of the people were all around. The metallic smell of blood hung heavy in the air. They had come again. The soldiers. They had taken out money ,our land and basically out people but that wasn't enough. They needed to make sure we were erased all of us were erased to insure complete dominance. The men groaning and the shrill screams of the women reverberate through me. I look to my left seeing a pregnant woman currently in the middle of labour with no help. Her face twisted in a deep acorn of pain. Her screams causing pains in my heart. I start to walk towards her ignoring my mother's cry. "Doura where are you going come back!" She shouts but I was too immersed to help and I continued to walk towards the woman, my eyes displaying a deep show of pity upon her. As I almost reach her, she stares at me with her deep dark bottomless sorrow filled eyes. "Help me."she mouths. There was nothing much I was going to do but I was going to try to help her. I kneel next to her, my knees sinking into the marshy ground and I stretch my hand, putting my hand on her shoulder. "What can I-" Immediately I begin to speak, a loud bullet gets shot immediately piercing in the middle of her brows. I scream as I see her soulless now dead dark eyes staring back at me. The baby that is halfway pushed out of her crying loudly without blood and dirt all around it. I look up seeing a group of spiders marching towards my direction. I stay at my position too starstruck to even move. The sounds around me now are a whole vibrating buzz. I feel my hand in a clasp with another and I'm being lifted up. A sharp slap is delivered to my cheek and I instantly get my bearings and I look up at my mother, her eyes a glowering mix of rage and anxiety. "Runnnn!" She shouts. My feet pick up speed as we run to somewhere anywhere that could offer us security even though temporarily. My father is seen pacing anxiously, his eyes darting back and forth as he clutches Sunki's hand in his. "Oh Dara, Thank Zoro you're alright." He looks up at my mother and the both of them seem to have a hushed conversation with their eyes and we begin to run towards the decks. I'm not sure why but we're going into a boat with a man waving fastly at us and we enter the storage facility of the boat, the strong smell of raw tobacco lingering in the air. I don't know how long we were on the boat but during the nights I would wake up crying because of the terrible things I had seen in my dreams. Mother always shushed me and said I was overthinking and none of that ever happened but I knew at the back of my mind that she was lying. She and Father would always leave at the c***k of dawn and come back during night with meat, bread and some water. I wanted to to know where they went to when they left as the c***k of dawn so I followed them. I made sure that Sunki was asleep and I left exploring the corridors and peekimg through gaps of wood to check whether they were there. My feet padded on the cool floorboards and immediately a door creaks and a woman step out. She screams at n incredibly loud pitch that even I have to close my ears. "It's a small measly charcoal thief." She bellows. I look around as some sailmen gather around me interrogating me loudly and poking me with batons. "She must have a uck in on here mate." One says. "Let's toss her in the sea oi?" Another replies. His statement getting cheers all around from the others and I get ruthlessly picked up by my arm them intending to throw me off board. My father's shout stop them from going through with their wicked act. With tears staining his cheeks he runs towards me and grabs me tightly from the hands of the sailman. "Oi Brad y'know this naughty lad?" One said. "Yes she's my daughter and she's not a thief, she would never do anything to hurt anyone not minding what color they are." He said. Their faces turn sour as they register his words of indirectly calling them colorists and he turns and walks towards our storage room. He gently cradles I and Sunki's heads and coos rocking us I'm his arms his tears dropping on us. "I'm so sorry." He says whilst crying and I sit still in my father's arms confused. That was the first time I ever saw my father cry. He rocked us gently occasionally stroking our cheeks with his fingers. "It's just for a while. I will never allow anything bad to ever happen to you." I pay in my father's arms comforted by his words and his mellow voice. "Papa where are we going?" Suki asked, looking up at my father. "A better land. A safer home." He answered Suki with such a conviction in his voice. "Will the others also be there? All my friends and other people from the village." A long silence followed. "Papa?" Suki called out. "They're all on their way Suki. They'll just be here a bit later." "I'm happy Papa." Suki said with a smile. I watched as papa looked at Suki and blatantly told lies. I knew no one from the village was coming and we would never see them again. I knew half of the population were either dead or badly injured because I saw everything. "Thank you Papa." I say snuggling into my father's arms. "I would do anything for you two, my precious jewels."
