Good Piece

The friends were much rowdier when they were all in one place. Callie actually hadn't realized how muted they had been until Anna was added into the mix. There was more laughter, more jokes, and more over all joy. It hadn't taken Callie long to notice that Anna's presence did something to the three men, it was like the free spirted young woman gave them life. Callie had never really had friends, nothing like the companionship shared between them. It was a bit fascinating to her, she found herself more focused on the excitement in the living room then the tacos she was fixing. Usually when Davison had his friends over she tried everything in her power to block out what they were doing. From where she stood, she could see the pretty red head standing in front of the couch which sat Davison, Peter, and Anderson, telling a story about her time spent in Europe. The young woman spoke with flare and her hands, and all of the men were enticed. Callie was pretty sure she could walk out the front door at that very moment and none of them would notice, she didn't want to test her theory yet though. She finished her tacos, the chips, dips, and drinks were already out there, so she just had to take the tray of tacos and them maybe she could disappear into her bedroom. She picked up the tray and headed into the living room, like she had assumed, none of the men even noticed she had arrived with food (which was something all on its on), and sat it down next to the chips. She hoped they would just get up and get their own drinks if needed, because she planned on reading the book she had yanked from Davison's bookshelf the day before. "You're finally done slaving away in that kitchen?" Anna spoke up, messing up her attempt at escape. The woman grinned at her. She had a beer bottle in one hand. "You are going to join us now, right? Callie glanced nervously at Davison, unsure what she should do. Deny and have him accuse her of making his friends suspicious or accept and have him annoyed with her for intruding on time with his friends? "Why are you looking at him for? I was asking you." The woman huffed and shot a glare at a blank faced Davison. Callie's gaze flickered to the other two men who were watching, well Anderson was, while Peter seemed more interested in a chip he had in his hand. Realizing she was taking too long to answer and that Davison wasn't saying anything, Callie shifted on her feet. "I-" She cried out in alarm as she felt herself being tugged down by her wrist, it took her a few seconds to realize she was sitting on Davison's lap. When she did, her head turned to look at him in shock, only for her ear to bump into his lips. "Relax," he whispered in her ear, "or you'll regret it." That didn't make her want to automatically relax. She did try schooling her expression as she turned her head to the now silent Anna. The other woman's raised eyebrow made her feel embarrassed. "Alright..." Anna finally said. "The PDA is making me regret...everything." She shot them a smile. Callie tried to ignore Davison's hand on her thigh which he was rubbing. The red head across from them sat down heavily in the arm chair behind her. "I was just telling the boys how it rained pretty much every single day I was in England, which is to be expected...but after the first month it became a little ridiculous. I'm not a dreary weather kind of girl." She shrugged, easily keeping the conversation going. "Have you ever been?" Callie fidgeted not only because the attention was now placed on her, but obviously because of current seat. "No actually," She admitted with a weak smile, "I've only actually been out of the country once...and that was to Ireland when I was like four for my parent's honeymoon, so I don't actually remember it." Anna looked surprised. "Really, you've only been out of the country once? What kind of rich girl are you?" "Yeah, I mean, no vacations to Spain? Villa's in Italy, like Anderson over here?" Peter asked nudging the other man, also seeming a bit surprised. "The vacation home in Italy belong to my parents." Anderson picked up a taco off the table and bit into it. "They gave me the one in Rome." He said with a mouth full and a crooked smile. "Simply disgusting," Anna rolled her eyes at him. "Rich boy who eats like a beggar in the middle ages." "My grandmother says I have a healthy appetite," he defended jokingly, swallowing the food in his mouth only for a long swig of beer to follow it. "She's also thinks you're a very good boy," Anna chortled right off the bat, making them all laugh. Callie realized that the statement was obviously some type of inside joke. She glanced back at Davison who was also laughing, it transformed his face. It made him look like a stranger, one she would mind knowing. He stopped laughing when he noticed she had turned to look at him and his sudden serious face made her want to turn away, but she couldn't. Peter said something else that had the others laughing, but Davison continued to watch her watch him. She was about to look away when he grabbed her chin and tugged her face forward. There was only a brief hesitation before their lips met. Callie's head swam, and she was caught between wanting to pull away and accepting the poison. It felt wrong but not bad, far from bad. "This is why I've always hated when you guys had girlfriends, too much NASTY!" Anna's voice pulled her out of it. She pulled away, but Davison lips followed her, her chin still between his fingers, she pulled away again this time turn her head quickly so their lips wouldn't meet again. "Luckily, Callie's a sweetheart and I like her...a big step up from those dirty whores you guys usually go for." She said bluntly, winking at a breathless Callie. She flinched when she felt Davison's face against her neck. She didn't know how to handle this at all. Why did he have to torture her this way? "What about those f**k boy's you always make us hang with?" Peter questioned, not mentioning what had just happened at all. She was thankful for that. Callie ran a hand through her hair as she pulled a face. "You mean the men you guys run away?" "Pick better men," Davison chimed up from behind her. Anna waved her hand dismissively. "Look, Cals, these guys have been a real help in my imaginary abstinence campaign. Regular Ol contraception in human form." She honestly sounded bitter. "I had to go across the freaking ocean to get some!" That made them all laugh, even Callie found herself smiling, which seemed to please Anna. "But now that Davison has you, that means I have one less c**k block to worry about. So, thank soooo much!" Callie could only smile. "Don't count on it," Davison said as the other guys snickered, "I'm still on team 'Anna cannot get some' and I'm not hanging up my jersey yet." Anna pouted like a child making Callie laugh with the rest of them. "Do you see now what Davison tricked you into?" The red head said dramatically. "It's a cult with the sole purpose of making me miserable!" Callie laughed again. She was surprised about how much she was laughing. "We're protecting you, Na." Anderson said after swallowing a handful of chips. "You would get into all sorts of trouble without us." Anna rolled her eyes. She smirked at Callie. "You're here now, Cals," she wiggled her eyebrows, "you can help me with them." "Don't involve my wife in any of your schemes, Anna." Davison said seriously. "For her sake." Callie stiffened whereas Anna didn't seem to take his words too seriously as she rolled her eyes and laughed. Why would she take it as seriously as Callie, she didn't know what she did. "I'm thirsty," Callie lied, wanting to get off Davison's lap. She wiggled out of his hold and moved as quickly into the kitchen as she could without it appearing as if she were running. She grabbed a glass from the cabinet and filled it with tap water and before chugging the liquid down her parched throat. She glanced behind her, glad to see no one had followed her. She turned and sagged against the edge of the counter, her mind went to the kiss, making tears spring to her eyes. Why was he doing this to her? (BP) Anna jumped awake to the sound of banging on the front door of the condo. She scrambled out of bed and poked her head out into the hall at the same time Davison came quickly down the hall. He spared her only a glance as he moved by. She followed his shirtless back with her eyes until he was out of view before stepping out into the hall and following him. He never got visitors this late. She guessed she was too curious to just go back to bed. "Damn it, Anna!" Callie made it just in time to here him say and watch Anna crumble in the doorway. Callie gasped. She looked a mess, making up running, hair messy, the front to her teal dress stained dark. "What's wrong?" Davison's voice took on a tone she had never heard before, it was a bit desperate but mostly concerned. Fearful, really. "Did something happen?" He questioned as he bent before her, pulling her towards him and brushed her hair from her face. Anna's response was broken sobs and slurred words. "I-I..." Her own concern growing, Callie took a step forward only for her to freeze when Davison looked back at her. "Don't just stand there, go get her some water!" He snapped at her. Callie quickly did as she was told and returned a few seconds later to find the front door closed and Davison placing Anna on the couch. The red head of shivering as silent tears squeezed passed her tightly shut eyes. "Is...Is she okay?" Callie found herself asking. Instead of answering, Davison took the water from her and tried to get Anna to drink it, but she pushed the glass away from her lips with her hand. "I don't want that," she moaned and leaned back heavily against the couch. Her eyes finally squinted open. "I really missed you guys, you know?" Her slow tone revealed the obvious fact that she was intoxicated. "England was hell without all of you...so...such a bad time!" Davison who was squatting before her, sighed and brushed more hair out of her face gently. "What happened tonight, did something happen?" Anna was quiet for a long while, staring off to the side before she made a low noise and dropped her head back onto the couch. "No..." She sighed. "I just got a little emotional...a girl can do that right?" Davison actually laughed, and he seemed relieved to hear her answer, the taunt muscles in his back loosened themselves. He put the glass of water down on the coffee table before he sat next to the intoxicated woman and smiled fondly at her, playing with ends of her hair. "My door is always open, Na, even for your emotional explosions, you know that." Anna smiled at him and he at her, they seemed lost in their own little world. Callie was uncomfortable. Anna's head landed on Davison's shoulder as she sighed, her eyes fluttered closed then open, and that was when they landed on Callie. The much lighter woman quickly sprang up. "Oh, God, I wasn't interrupting anything was I?" She grimaced. "I completely forgot about the whole you being married thing! I should have gone to one of the others..." Davison seemed to remember she was there as well, because he looked at her. He blinked once before his expression flickered with annoyance. "No, its fine," he said, "you weren't interrupting anything. You're my best friend, Na, you would come first anyway." An unwanted pain shot through Callie at those words. She couldn't understand the feeling of hurt those words brought to her, of course Davison didn't care about her more than his friends, or at all for that matter. Maybe it was just the whole thing, watching someone be so cared for made her remember vividly she had no one who cared for her the same. Her throat grew tight and her chest heavy. "Are you alright, Anna?" Callie decided to ask, pushing the hurt away. Anna sighed. "Great, I feel horrible now. I diffidently interrupted something." She glanced between the two of them. "But thank you, Cals, but I'm fine." She struggled to get off the couch, but Davison grabbed her by her waist and pulled her back down. "You're not going anywhere, not while you're like this." He ordered sternly. "You'll sleep this off here." "There's no way I'm staying at a newlywed's house! It feels wrong." She struggled but Davison wasn't budging. "Just shut the hell up, Anna." Davison chided, unhelpfully in Callie's opinion. "Yeah, its fine." Callie decided to chime in when Anna glanced up at her. "You seem like you had a rough night. It wouldn't feel right if you went home like this when we could have offered you a place." She forced a smile. "It's really no trouble." Anna glanced between the two of them once again before seemingly accepting defeat. "Fine, but I'm sleeping on the couch like a good little drunk!" Callie's smile turned a bit more genuine as she glanced at Davison who took his eyes off Anna for a second to look at her. He discreetly nodded his head towards the bedrooms. She understood him perfectly. "Goodnight, Anna." "Thank you, and good night, Cals!" She woman smiled back, eyes already drooping with sleep. (BP) Callie woke at the time she normally would and ventured out of her bedroom. On her way into the kitchen to start on breakfast and turned to look in the living room to check on Anna, there she was found a surprising, but not surprising sight. Davison was also asleep on the couch, Anna was sprawled out over him and his arms were over her protectively. Callie's gaze lingered on the scene for longer than need be, but she couldn't help it. Davison showed a different side to him when it came to Anna, a gentle, protective, and caring side. She honestly hadn't thought he had it in him. When her eyes had gotten their fill, she turned away and moved into the kitchen to start on a greasy breakfast. When the food really started cooking is when Anna stumbled in holding her head. "Goodness, that smells good." She squinted. Callie smiled at her as she plated the eggs. "Good morning, do you feel better?" Anna sat at the table and sighed. "Besides this headache? I feel like shit." "What on earth made you go out drinking by yourself anyway?" Davison appeared and asked, making Callie's smile wither away. He didn't even spare her a glance. Anna rolled her eyes. "I don't know, I'm a big girl who can go out on her own, maybe?" "Clearly not since you showed up at my door at two in the morning," Davison didn't sound too angry, she knew what that sounded like. He took a seat beside Anna, but not before playfully pulling her hair. She turned back to the food. "What are you eight? And don't be an asshole, Dee." Anna scoffed. The door bell rang loudly inside the house, making the red head curse and Davison laugh. "Its open!" He yelled, making Anna shoot him a glare. Callie began placing the plates of food on the table right as the door opened. A few seconds later Anderson and Peter appeared. Anderson carried with him a paper cup holder, with four paper coffee cups inside. Anna groaned loudly at the sight of them. "Oh, does our baby have a hang over?" Peter cooed loudly as he plopped a kiss right on the top of Anna's head making her swat him away. He laughed. When Anderson took a step forward she pointed a finger at him. "Don't even think about it. What are you guys doing here?" "Well, obviously, Davison called us." Anderson spoke grinning at her. Despite their smiles, Callie noticed they all seemed a little concerned. "I brought the usual!" He began to hand out coffee cups. His smile faded when his eyes landed on her. "s**t!" He cursed. "I completely forgot, Callie. Uh...you can have mine!" He tried to hand her the last cup in the holder. She waved him away. "No, its fine, I hate coffee anyway." She forced another smile. "Have you guys eaten breakfast? I just finished cooking." "No, we haven't..." He said awkwardly, still obviously feeling bad about forgetting about her. "Thank you, Callie." Callie just shrugged with carelessness she didn't quite feel.
