Em fell out of the air and watched the solid stone book fly up to meet her. Something jerked her to an almost-halt before lowering her the final distance, so at least she didn’t land as painfully this time. “Em!” Em raised her head and looked around to see Tilly hurrying toward the book. She stood and scrambled to the edge of the stone page as quickly as possible, reaching for Tilly’s outstretched hand. “Ohthankthepunch,” Tilly said as Em jumped down. Tilly dragged her several paces away before letting go. “Thank the what?” Em asked. Then she shook her head. “You—what happened? Where did you go?” what“I … um …” For once, Tilly seemed at a loss for words. She cleared her throat, then asked, “Where did you go?” you“I—” Em’s face heated at the memory of the scene she’d been plucked from.
