It was dark all around and only the light of the moon gave light to the entire house of Julius. Every night he prefers not to open any lights in his house. He just stared at his glass of wine while he sat in his recliner. He crossed his arms and looked into the distance. His thoughts are deep. He was on the balcony now, his face emotionless as the cool breeze touched his skin.
After he sips the wine in the glass, his attention turns to the sound of a crow that is now approaching his location. He breathed deeply and frowned.
"What now talking crow?" Julius said.
"Aren't you going to greet me at least? I flew so far just to get to you," The bird replied. Julius was not surprised that the crow could speak because it had been visiting him for a long time to remind him that the appointed time was near.
Julius didn't answer.
He gritted his teeth before raising his arm to pour wine into his glass. Julius remembered someone... A special girl he once loved but because of his fault, he lost her. He lost everything.
FLASHBACK
"Are you sure we are safe in this place?" The voice of a girl coming from the bathroom.
Julius grinned as he slowly removed his shoes, he was now sitting on the bed.
Later on, the girl came out of the bathroom. The girl immediately walked towards Julius and the girl applied her lips to Julius who felt that she was thirsty.
Julius responded to those kisses. Their kiss got hotter and hotter until the woman's hand crawled to Julius's cloth and opened the buttons one by one.
Every time their lips touch, something inside Julius seems to be stopping him from doing this, but his mind is also commending him to do more. Julius slowly undressed the woman and laid her on the bed, Julius removed her cover one by one before their lips met again, and Julius' kiss crawled down the woman's body. But a few moments later, Julius was stopped from doing so when he heard his cell phone ringing from the table near the bed.
"Why did you stop? Don't mind that stupid call." The girl said with disappointment on her face.
"Just a second," Julius replied and immediately took out his cell phone to see who was calling.
"s**t!" Julius uttered.
Julius answered the call.
"Hello, babe? Are you busy? Will you eat dinner here? I prepared your favourite dish for you." A girl's voice coming from the other line.
"Ahm... Yes, I'll just finish my work and I'll join you for dinner tonight." Julius replied.
"Okay. I'll wait for you. I love you."
"Love you too babe." That's it and Julius ended the call.
"Is that your wife?" The girl asked while sitting on the bed without a cover.
"My girlfriend," Julius answered sparingly. He began to pick up his clothes from the floor and put them on his naked body.
"Shall we not end this?" The girl asked when she saw that Julius was getting dressed.
Julius didn't answer and he just continued to fix himself. He was about to walk out of the room when he was suddenly stopped by a question.
"When do you plan to tell your girlfriend about us?"
Julius remained where he was.
"You know what's between the two of us and I prefer it to stay that way," Julius replied and continued walking.
Yes. Julius was cheating.
END OF FLASHBACK
"I smell regrets in your face," Crow said.
"What can we say? We are all humans, we make mistakes and regrets."
"But you are beasts." Julius looked sharply at the crow when he suddenly said that.
"I was thinking what can be cooked tomorrow... Maybe a friend crow or grilled crow?" Julius suppressed his laughter as the crow was surprised by what he said.
"I'm just kidding," answered the crow.
"Well, I'm not."
"By the way, how's the tree of life?"
"Still the same... Maybe I'll just wait for that tree to die because I know that my time has nearly ended and I'm slowly accepting what my personality is." The taint of sadness in his words can be heard in Julius's words.
The crow didn't reply. A moment of silence enveloped the whole area. Julius stood up from his recliner grabbed the bottle of wine and slowly walked towards his room.
Sofia is ready to leave her apartment to go to Julius' house. After she packed her lunch, she made sure all the lights were off before she went out and locked her apartment. She was about to walk to the garage when she noticed a flower by the front door of his apartment.
It's a red rose.
She picked it up and her eyes wandered all over the hallway hoping to see who put it there. But she didn't see a single person in the hallway.
She slowly lifted her hand and smelled the rose. She smiled the moment she did that. Something inside her suddenly made her happy this morning.
She smiled and walked towards the rose towards the garage. After she reached her car, she immediately started the engine of her car and immediately left.
It took her a few minutes and she finally arrived at Julius's house.
A deafening silence enveloped the entire mansion.
Is Julius already awake?
That was the first question that entered her mind when she got out of her car after she parked it. She casually walked to the big door of the house.
She took a deep breath before knocking on the wooden door.
"Sir Julius, I'm here," she promised.
As she waited patiently, she thought about Julius' condition again. Mercy began to rise again in her body.
She came back to reality when she heard the sound of the wooden door opening.
Julius appeared to her, he was wearing a white plain short and a thick hoody so his whole face was covered.
Sofia expected to hear anything from Julius, but Julius didn't say a word. Julius stared at Sofia's position for a moment and immediately turned around and walked in, leaving the door open.
Sofia entered the house slowly. Sofia noticed that the windows of the house were not open so it was quite dark around and only the sun's rays were lighting the whole house.
Why doesn't he open the windows? Maybe he prefers the surroundings to be dark.
"Where would you like me to start today?" She politely asked.
"Upstairs. Start in the back bedroom, there's a broom in the closet. Don't touch any important things in that room. Understood?" Julius replied without turning his gaze to her and continued walking.
"Yes sir."
I think I should get used to this man's cold treatment.
Sofia took a deep breath before starting to walk to the room where she was going to clean. After she opened the door, her eyes were amazed because of the extra spaciousness of that room. The floor is wood and full of antiques. She noticed that the furniture inside the room was surrounded by dust and cobwebs.
How many years has it not been cleaned?
She walked through the closet and took the broom and dustpan to start cleaning. She starts by removing the cobwebs and wipes the windows and even the furniture before she sweeps.
In the middle of his cleaning, she noticed a big box on the side. She immediately came closer to where the box was and noticed that it was open. It was filled with old stuff, but Sofia noticed a frame covered in stuff.
"Don't touch anything important in that room."
Just what Julius said entered her brain.
She was about to take care of it and continue cleaning but it was as if someone was ordering her to take the window and look at it.
Sofia stayed where she was and was thinking twice if she would move the stuff in that box.
In the end his curiosity prevailed, she slowly took the small frame from the box and looked at its picture.
This is a family picture. But the image of the people in the picture is erased. Two children are sitting and a woman and man standing behind the two children in the picture.
Could this be Julius's family?
She thought for a few more seconds. She took a deep breath and gently put the frame back inside the box and continued his cleaning.
After a few minutes of cleaning the room, she couldn't get rid of the image he had seen earlier.
Her mind was filled with questions but she still forced himself to focus on his cleaning.
Sofia what are you doing? You should only be doing work here in this house, not interfering in other people's lives.
Hours passed and she finally finished cleaning the entire room. The whole room became clear because Sofia opened the large windows to let the sunshine into the room.
Sofia immediately left the room to look for Julius to let him know that it was done as he ordered.
Sofia found Julius sitting in his recliner. She walked slowly to where it was.
"Sir, I'm done cleaning the back bedroom," he said weakly.
After a few seconds, she didn't hear any noise from Julius. Sofia couldn't tell if Julius was sleeping because his position was turned away from her, so she dared to walk in front of him and was surprised to see that Julius was fast asleep.
She stared at Julius's face, it was wrinkled and even Julius's arms up to his hands were also wrinkled.
What happened to this man?
She scanned the whole body of Julius and she could tell that their ages were not far from each other.
Pity began to rise again throughout Sofia's body. For a few seconds, Sofia was looking at Julius's face as if it had a magnet to attract her attention.
She kept staring at Julius' face because there was something special on his face that Sofia couldn't help but be amazed by.
Sofia noticed Julius's thick eyebrows and his long eyelashes, his pointed nose and his pinkish lips.
But she was surprised when Julius' eyes suddenly opened.
"What are you staring at?"
